Maybe, but consider what an inventor friend of mine pointed out...

...you'll never go broke catering to the lowest common denomenator. If the majority of people let their imagination stop at 1969, guess what we'll get.

I get the feeling I'll be keeping my '98 for a lot longer than I want to...or trade it in for another marque....

I can't remember where I originally found this or who made it but I had it saved to my hard drive. I wouldnt mind something that harkened back somewhat to the early Second Gen's with a bit of 4th Gen evolution mixed in. Here is the pic:

I like that car, I definitely see both 4th and 2nd gen, as well as a 3rd gen like stance. I am really looking forward to seeing what GM has in store for us. Retro or non retro? How much heritage styling? Should be an exciting January

You guys need to understand the point of the "Nomad" photoshop. At the time Guy was hinting that the Nomad F-body based concept could have major influence on the proposed Chevy coupe. The intent was to show that by simply changing the roofline and nothing else, the Nomad concept would have very Camaro-like properties, and would fit the styling cues that had been hinted at by evok and others over at C&G. It was never refined beyond that point, nor was it meant to be taken seriously as a Camaro concept. It was only a styling excersize to prove a point.

I certainly hope you're right, cuz if a camaro had that front with only minor changes =

Now if it looked like Chrispy's, someone get me a towel

For those that are seeing this for the first time, its the F-body based Nomad with a Crispeylike roofline.
Yep.

I would think that using a Camaro based chassis mignt be a good jump point for a design concept that might form the basis of it's sucessor.

Don't look at specifics. That grille had cheesy chevy logo cutouts as it's openings (that's not screen or chicken wire in the grille).

Think of the Nomad as a doodle, a theme, or a starting point. Think of the "photoshop" version Josh posted a really bad drawing, and look at Crispey's rendition as the 1st draft.

The idea here is to get a general idea of what the car looks like, not details such as grille texture, door handles, or even actual headlight arrangements.

Thanks.

For those of you who are pretty shocked about the bit of info coming out in this thread, check this thread out from April 2004 :

I would think that though the full width grill is a certainty, what goes into that grille probally isn't, and has been played with over the years.

Ditto the greenhouse (1st gen coupe or a 2nd-4th gen "B" pillar and hatch?).

I'd think the Chevy swishes and the hood creases will stay. I'd also add Chevy's "signature" tail lights. But the basic body?

As has been said, no telling how much of all this actually makes it into any production car, if it were to happen. But I'd seriously doubt starting from scratch is an option if something like that were to see the light of day in a short timeframe.

I was told that Lutz is a fan of round headlights (as opposed to shaped ones I guess)...for whatever that's worth...

Judging what Ed Welburn drives, so would he.

That is the front end, I think the crossfire borrowed from a little! The photo shopped black one looks nice though. I liked it (nomad) then & now, but for a 5th gen IMO, it's gotta look more agressive.

I have a question. IIRC, Wasn't the SS concept supposed to be a "cartoonish" look at a future car?
If so...

How does that work into the design of the Camaro?

or

Was it based on a different, upcoming car?

SS was a cartoonish version of a future car. As to which car, I honestly don't know. There was a Buick sedan that came out just before (1 or 2 years) that had much the same shape and lines.

My guess? Given development times at GM, I'd guess it would have been the updated FWD "Mid-Lux" cars or the Buick & Chevy version RWD Sigma-Lite cars (before GM abandoned the program) or something that might have been an early NA-Zeta.
