Dreamcruise Mach 1 concept?
Re: Dreamcruise Mach 1 concept?
Hey that's allright, the body style is actually very much in line with Steve's 390 GT. Now if Chevy would just get that SS Camaro out for MY 2007, we could have a very cool 40th anniversary reunion!!
PS- I'll take a black SS, and it won't be the Camaro ending up in the gas station!!!

Here's the wheels from FRPP (Note even the centers match exactly)
The black rocker panel stripes... (available with/without "Mustang" or Ford Racing" text)
So I put these on my 2005 GT, and paint the rear spoiler black - and I have the car in the picture.
Also, I don't think you would see Ford doing a field study without major Ford sponsorship and staff posted around the car either. It wouldn't likely be sitting by itself the way this one was.
Ford IS working on the next SE car, but I still don't know if it will be Mach 1, Bullitt, or Boss yet. I do know that all 3 are being considered. We posted in this forum earlier this year that Thai-Tang was quoted saying the SE cars are coming. Given the Mustang commercials from last Novemebr/December, I think I know which one will come first.

- It was done by Team Mustang in 4 days (notice the stripe says 'Team Mustang'
- the shaker was the EXACT unit from the 03/04 Mach1
- the motif was 03/04 Mach1-esque (black spoiler, shaker, stripes etc)
- unknown what was under the hood other than anything stock..however the person from ford mentioned something about it being different...
- the 18" bullitt style wheels are NOT aftermarket, and will be available on the 2006 mustang GT as late availability (one finish in 'midnight silver' and one chrome) they are of NOT the 17's upsized...different design, more 04ish
- I wouldn't count on a either of those as the first special edition in 07/08

As for the car - seems like somewhat of a lame exercise for an outfit the size of Ford and with the budget of Mustang?
Also, I am a little bewildered why they would "debut" a car for feedback when there are already numerous cars with the same add-ons already on the street in the hands of owners. These add-ons have been seen constantly at shows since SEMA last year. (BTW, I linked to all the parts in my prior post.)
Wheels, stripes, and a hood-scoop do not seem to justify a rebadge worthy of the Mach 1 name - especially when all these parts have been available from FRPP or CDC for a year already.
The engine seems to be the mystery point here. The only way for the Shaker to be the "exact same as the 03/04 Mach 1" would be for the engine to be the same 4.6 as the 03/04 Mach 1 (at least the intake and top-end so all the parts will bolt-up). The new 3V heads incorporate a new intake, runners, and inlet location as compared to the 03/04 4.6L Mach 1 units. In fact, I think the new intake is kind of cluttered-looking and a bit of an eyesore - many I know have already purchased engine dress-up kits to cover the exposed intake runners on the '05 V8s. Again, I think someone has transplanted the new (year-old anyways) '05 shaker unit onto a regular GT 3-valve, as previous posts have linked to.
This looks MUCH better IMO... Link 1
And this one at least has the black chin spoiler and unique grill treatment (both Mach 1 DNA traits)... Link 2
There's a ton of images of '05s with Shakers and stripes on the web and in mags.
Not doubting your story - I certainly wasn't there to ask anyone - but if this was truely a Ford exercise, it appears to be one of the lowest-keyed, unofficial, lowest-dollar exercises I've ever seen them do.
Sounds like you were there... Do you recall any names of the Ford reps that were there? Team Mustang members?
Or was there an official Ford trailer or tent nearby? White one or blue one?
That would be very helpful for me to find out what the skinny is.
Also, if ANYBODY got a picture with a license plate - we could seal the deal as well. Manufacturer's plates are a dead giveaway, and even special plates used for test mules can be helpful. If the car had regular personal tags (or worse yet out-of-state tags) - I'd really be inclined to write this one off as a modified personal car.
Just my humble opinion(s).
Again, welcome to the board!

).I can not speak for the car in these photos, but the best rumor to date is that the next SE Mustang will likely have a 5.4L-3V with natural aspiration.
340-360hp is the rumored target.
I will say this is what the rumor is, and then I will say that I have not heard this is the case from any credible sources.
Sounds good (and logical) to me though, given the current engine options for the car.
I can confirm that the D2C platform was engineered from the start to accomodate the 5.4, so it will go in - no problem.
The GT500 will attests to that feat.
Re: Dreamcruise Mach 1 concept?
Hey guys,
Thanks,
As for the lame exercise.
I agree to an extent. It was probably (guessing here) a last minute 'hey lets throw something together and get some comments'
Could it have been done better? sure.
I'm sure Team Mustang wanted to get the 06 18" bullitts out to be seen...kinda weird how they mixed/matched them on 2 sides of the car...but anyway.
No I was not there personally (I wish I was...)
As for the engine...your guess is as good as mine.
It was either the same hoodscoop (not plumbing) just scoop...
or the Mach1 motor. I'd venture to say it was just the scoop, nothing more.
I don't think it was meant to be functional in anyway/shape/form. AND probably the reason why the hood was not 'allowed' to be opened.
This is all speculation mind you.
I agree, there is nothing on that car, that I could do to mine with buying aftermarket/Ford Genuine parts.
I just think it was a quick throw together, to see if people like the look of those parts on the 05/06...thats all.
If people react good to it, I'm sure they'll explore those options..if not...well, no loss.
Remember the 03 Mach1 started as something like this as well, only it had some specialtly looks to it, not just tack ons.
Wonder when we'll start seeing pics of the GT/CS

Not that that's a bad thing.
