6.0, 6-speed, RWD........$23K
Has anyone seen the latest Hot Rod Magazine?
They have a story in there about a short wheelbase, two wheel drive Chevy pick-up called the SS, which they say will be available in 2003.
It looks like the black, SWB, RWD, SS pick-up concept from the Detroit dreamcruise posted here a couple of months ago.
It reportedly will have 20 inch wheels, 6.0L motor, T-56, Trailblazer rear suspension and 3.73 rear end.
To hold down costs it will come with few options....it will even have a cloth bench seat.
Hot Rod says that it will go for $23 grand.

Will it be based off of the silverado or the smaller s10 replacement. If it is a Silverado based truck its ok. It will be to heavy for my liking. If it were a Smaller s10 replacement based truck it sounds interesting. It would have the powertrain the SSR should have had without all the extra cost of the silly body (i kinda like it tho) Power top ect. We know the ls1 fits in the Upcomig s10 (what is it going to be called?)
You know, I am not at all a truck guy. I believe that trucks should do work like tow trailers or haul hay bails or something... instead of being used as daily drivers or grocery getters.
But somehow, I am smitten by this truck. So simple, so elemental. It's got a big honkin' V8, manual trans and steep gears. Heck, I even like the bench seat.
And if the MSRP is correct...it sure will be affordable.
I wish I had a trailer to tow (maybe for my '08 Z/28) or some scrap iron to haul, because I would probably buy one.

I'm just wondering if it is AWD or RWD, since they were having problems packaging it when Joe Lopez (member over at fsc) spoke with some people at the Woodward Cruise. He was the first person to have that pic up and BOY were we all shocked since no one thought GM would produce a concept let alone a working model, and now here almost two months later we hear it might be production, GM can really keep things on a lid (though i wish they didnt)
Do we have any other source that conferms this truck being ready for production. Will it be called a SS as well as the other aSilverado SS. More info GM please. I just find it unlikly that we will see it in showrooms. Could Hot rod just be way off with this. I think they think that the Silverado SS ext cab AWD that we have all seen.

All GM had to do was make it like this and All of a sudden I have some intrest in it. Its Afordable, peppy nice, looking (sits right), May be affordable. If it can tow 5500lbs for short distances I could consider it. It would be nice to tow my camro to the track in case of breakage. Im not looking for all time tow truck but it makes a all around package.
I have an extra ls6 intake, ported TB, and mild cam in the garage.
add thoes 400 hp 430 tq
Spend 1000 on air filter headers EXST. 430/450 plus

I have a 5.7 LS1 crank in the garage with a bored6.0 block 398 cid
