Do you feel the future will be RWD, FWD, or AWD?

Chrysler's move to RWD (rear wheel drive) has many people wondering if this is the blunder that will take them down for sure. GM and Ford, so far, have stayed away from this transition to RWD with the exception of luxury and nitch vehicles. Both companies have said that there is more practical RWD vehicles in the pipeline, but will this trend continue or die off fast due to practicality in the northern states?

In a perfect world... it'd be a nice mix of all of the above...

I think the current trend back to RWD is good, but I expect to start seeing more domestic AWD cars too... starting with G6.

(e) ALL OF THE ABOVE

FWD will remain top choice for entry level econoboxes and low priced sedans.

RWD will become the mainstay for performance coupes and remain on base model trucks and SUVs.

AWD will be used primarily on luxury and exotic coupes, sedans, trucks and SUVs.

There is room for all three to remain strong in their respective markets.

Now, related to a possible 5th gen Camaro? If it aint RWD, I aint buying.

IMO, at 1st:

RWD grows into a larger percentage, but still stays behind FWD in terms of numbers.

Then a few years later:

RWD takes over majority as the normal people hauler choice.

AWD had already become big, but not necessarily at the cost of RWD-characteristics and behavior. see Lamborghini Diablo VT through Galardo, Porsche 911 Turbo.

But generally you should continue to see the same market, with FWD crowd favoring/drifting toward AWD rally scene. I don't see AWD becoming standard on Civics though.

Ultimately, there is a place for all configurations.
