Thumbs up

I liked the one where the guy was riding on the train and kept seeing all the different pics of the old Caddies and then showing the XLR. Time for them to find a new song though. It's getting old.
While we're on commercials, I like all the new Pontiac commecials I see though. James Brown=

I was actually impressed.

I was watching the superbowl with a bunch of non-car guys, and everyone of them wanted the XLR after the commercials and seeing it in front of the MVP when they presented the trophy.

I liked the train one too. The one where the CTS blows though the tunnel too

But yea rock and roll is getting a little old. There are pleanty of other good Zep songs out there for them too use! Maybe they could move on to the Doors... LA woman would work.

This is what makes me mad. The CTS-V would absolutely blow away the market priced around $35-40 thousand, and why the hell can't it be priced there? Think about it. The pushrod LS6 is already available in the Corvette Z06 and it can't be that expensive to produce! If a base CTS with the high feature V6 (which is exclusive to Cadillac, isn't it?) can be priced right at $30,000, where is the extra $15-20,000 coming from? The LS6 and the engineering to drop it in the car can't POSSIBLY add that much to the price of every car. That's just %$#@-up economics. Car companies need to stop charging a ridiculous premium for no other reason than it offers more performance...

Perhaps "Break On Through"? That would be cool, IMO.

Because they can I guess. I hope theyt make it for 35K which is 5k more than the base model, the LS6 doesn't cost that much more for them to make. And the other options wouldn't cost more than 1k I eould imagine. they just have $$$ in their eyes.

I wouldn'y pay 50k for it though. I'd get a ZO6 long before a CTS-v, I love the CTS but a ZO6 is even more appealing. Not to mention I can't afford 50k, 35k if I am lucky.

I guess, but think of how many more they could sell at, say $38,000 as opposed to $50,000. With the LS6 being such a cheap motor to build for it's performance level, you'd still be making a profit and you'd be creating some real buzz for Cadillac! Let's face it, another $50,000 Cadillac is not that special, 400 HP or not. a 400 HP Cadillac priced the same as a similar-powered Mustang Cobra? Now THAT'S something truly special!!!!

Didn't Bob Lutz say the CTS-V will come in around $35,000 anyway? Where are you with the quote, Darth?

I bet the V-series package cost about $5,000 (worth the money) over the cost of the CTS with the Luxury Sport package, which would be about $40,000

why are people getting bent out of shape over what it MIGHT cost?? Seems premature.

LS6+upgraded suspension+ a few other minor trim items--I can't see it over 40K

I've stared at the CTS quite a few times and just a few minor changes would make me much happier.
1) It does have that "tip me over econo/Toyota echo" height to width ratio, but I think a wide-body or even an extra extension over the wheel arch would fix it, not to mention make it have a wider stance. I've seen a pic of one lowere 1.5" in the front and 2 in the rear and it looked much better
2) I don't like the mat grey area around the reverse lights and licensce plate, but I also can't envision a more tasteful solution.
If GM seriously wants Cadillac 2nd to none, then 400 hp is a must. If they do go w/ the 350hp version though, car companies are famous for adding more hp a couple years after introduction to reboost hype.
Cadillac not only has tough competition coming from BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Lexus, they've all acquired die-hard fans that have to be lured away. The most logical way to do this is to use their history. No, I don't mean more retro-B.S. I mean, back in the day Caddy's had GIANT motors and the latest techno-gadgetry. In this day and age to reflect that nature Caddy should be thinking LS6, 6-speed paddle-shift REAL manual (we're talking matches revs, holds gears, makes you feel like you're in a Ferrari) with adjustable shift firmness, of course a pure-manual option, how bout an adjustable exhaust that's caddy-soft unless you want to open it up. GMs affiliation w/ XM radio is a good start but the stereo should be wicked-powerful(4-gen f-bod 5 speaker bose on drugs), MP3 friendly, etc. Throw in their night-vision, some other "gotta have'em" gadgets and you're good to go. {{NOTE to GM officials: Gotta have'em gadgets in no-way suggests adapting anything from the Aztek [I can already see you guys jumping in the trunk of the new Caddy to see if you could put a tent on the back of it]. Anyway, there's my view on it.

Yes, Lutz quoted $35,xxx as a starting price for CTS-V. See my old thread for the article...

I don't think it's totally unrealisitic, though I could see it pushing up to $40k.
