If you've ever followed the lounge's political posts, you'd realize that arguing in a coherant and well thought-out manner is just about all I do.

Indeed my post contained no objective view of the car's positive qualities, nor did it contain any information that would lead anyone to believe that I considered the car beyond my original objection to it's "ricer" looks.

Just remember though, when people are looking to buy cars, and there is a plethora of choices available, a simple short-sighted opinion such as the one I posted can make all the difference in the world. Not everyone is an automotive enthusiast who will go through a detailed analysis of the potential cars they are considering for purchase.

Many buyers will choose one car over another based on looks alone or perhaps the "coolness factor" of it, which is mostly related to personal opinions and automotive culture.

You attempt to erode the validity of my opinions based on the fact that they aren't as well constructed or based in fact as many people on this board would like.

However, when dealing with the purchasing of a car, subjectivity can often have just as much validity, if not more validity than objectivity. The latter of which constitutes a large majority of the posts in the 5th gen section. Interesting to have a change of pace, no?

Just like the SRT-4, I think they need to drop the spoiler, but that is one of the selling points, in my option, of these cars to the "ricer" crowd. This car really looks like Chevy riped off the RSX, made a few headlight and taillight changes and put a Bowtie on it. Really disapoints me. BTW, I prefer the Neon interior over this, but thats me.

The seats, MAYBE. I guess it is your opinion though, and you are certainly entitled to it.

Nice looking car...except...Boeing might want it's wing back!

It'll have to run equal to a Subaru WRX STI to really impress me, though. I'll be the first to tell you I hate imports, but I've seen waaaaay too many STI's run in the 12's with VERY little work!

I'm a diehard Chevy guy, and I've got the big red BOWTIE tattoo to prove it, but let's face it....From a performance standpoint, Chevrolet needs to get their head out of their ***. Silverado SS?...Who are they kidding?
The fact is Chevy has let us all down. I find it ironic that their sales slogan is..."Chevy, We'll be there". Where are they when I need something from the showroom to go Cobra hunting? Hell, Dodge trucks outrun anything Chevy has to offer...Except a waaaay more expensive Vette. We're getting stomped by Cobras, Lightnings, Hemi Rams...Not to mention 4 cylinder SRT-4's, and Subaru's! I never thought I'd see the day when the best Chevy had to offer had to hide from a freaking SUBARU!

Chevrolet is abandoning performance...Where exactly does Chevrolet think they've built their reputation from? I've seen small block Chevys crammed into just about anything with wheels. The ONLY reason Chevrolet is still in existance today is because of their performance ability. They build engines that will go 200,000+ miles, but they can't make an electric window motor that lasts 3 years...LOL

Chevy, The SSR is cute, but we don't need it. The SS Silverado is an overweight slug. The Aveio?...What are you thinking there? The Monte Carlo SS is a nice looking car...Now you just need to put the drive wheels at the other end!

No, Chevy, what we really want is a Cobra stomping Camaro back in the showroom! This time, why don't you try something new....MARKETING! You had the most wicked production car on the market for quite a few years, but I never once seen a TV commercial that told me that! You could have boasted the fact that from '93-'02 you produced a car that had every Mustang owner standing in a puddle of their own urine, but no!...You let the car die because you didn't sell enough? Sure the Mustang sold more...To girls and yuppies! Real men went the performance route and bought Camaros. Now if I want a real performance car, I've got to stand in line behind the girls and yuppies at the Ford dealership, or take Paul Hogans advice and get a Subaru.

Thank you all for letting me "Vent".

Frank

BTW...Even in my HS year book, my nickname was Mr. Chevrolet!...LOL

There are no girls or yuppies in line for the '04 Cobra.

Come on over to the dark side, plunk your $30K down and join the team appreciates what you're talkin about.

I am very happy with my new cobra. I was the fastest street car at the track last night. the car went 11.90 and 12.00 all night at 118 mph. 1500 miles on the clock with a 293 upper , good tune, cia, bfgs, and cat back. The track was cold and ****y. I liked killing all the LS1s. This the fastest car for the money by far.
Note the $800 mod list for high 11s @ 118

Ducktape oughtta cover that tattoo just perfectly.

The STI is also $12,000 more. I think the WRX is a closer target, that does the 1/4mi in 14.4

I went to the Houston autoshow yesterday and they had a Cobalt SS. It looks good in person too. I took a couple of pics.

There's no way it'll run with an STi. I have a WRX and I seriously doubt it'll run with it. My WRX with increased boost and turbo hoses was able to out run a stock SRT-4 all the way to 110 mph before the guy gave up (I was still pulling away). It took years for Honda's Civic to build up the huge aftermarket it has today. I just don't see it happening for the Cobalt even as nice as it seems to be.

The 03/04 Cobras are no joke. $1000 of DIY in 3 hours parts gets you 103+ RWHP on pump gas!!! And that's before you put exhaust on! The only problem is you start to break half-shafts at 600 rwhp.

That's not a problem, it's a milestone.

Hmmm, Cobras start at 40k, this thing is fully loaded is like 26k??? That means you got 14K of mods. You could mod that thing until the fiberglass peels away wid dat.

All in all though I have to applaud GM. Maybe they're be a chevy in "Need For Speed 2: Underground 2, or something " Now, get those funds rolling in so you can pay genius engineers to make me a new Camaro

Um, they don't start at 40K unless you get a convertible with the Mystichrome package. I can go down and buy a 04 for $32,000 right now. BTW, there are only 3 options: 1) convertible top 2) chrome wheels and 3) Mystichrome package.

Dang that wing sucks! But then I guess GM is going after the young tuner crowd... so in that case, it'll probably be a homerun.
