Re: Chevy SS/Commodore VF Renderings

I don't see that at all looking at the race car and camo shots. I see a smaller jelly bean opening up top and on the bottom, a large trapezoidal opening with the long end at the top.

Yea the camo'd mule and the Sprint car test car look very much alike. Both have that large trapezoid opening under the grill. I don't see that in the artist renditions.

Well, no matter. The car will be unveiled within 4 months, and we'll no doubt be seeing pics on the internet before that so we won't have to wait very much longer.

Re: Chevy SS/Commodore VF Renderings

Better front view of what appears to be a big lower opening and a smaller upper grill with no break for the Bowtie spear/bar thingy.

At the Chevrolet Teat Drive during the State Fair of Texas, the line for the convertible Camaro SS's was longest, followed by the Volt & then the Spark. I wish I would have driven a Spark

Oh yeah, R.I.P. Big Tex

Re: Chevy SS/Commodore VF Renderings

More pics here......this time a wagon!! I wonder if we are going to get a wagon version of the SS in North America?

I do love my current G8 and can easily see myself getting one of these when the G8 gets long in the tooth......

My only regret with my G8 is that I didn't get the V8. If this new VF/SS gets a variant of the Gen5 LT1 (which is most likely)......I'll most definitely trade in my V6 G8 for one of these!!

Re: Chevy SS/Commodore VF Renderings

The Ute would have a better chance. Not sure about the LT1. Rumors are for the LS3 and possibly the LSA.

What else is on that list? Small, RWD Coupe as an entry level car slotted below Camaro would be killer. Give that car a wagon version and then you'd have a new Chevy Nomad which had a lot of support for production in the past. imho, I think they would both be hits.

The SS will have a version of Chevy's new grille like the Imala, ZL1, and Traverse. They call it tribar, but I don't see much consistancy.

Here's an artist's version, and outside of the headlights it's also close.

The US has a heavy duty on imported trucks, which is why all foreign car makers assemble their pickup trucks here.

However, about 6 years ago, the US signed a Free Trade Agreement that lifted it for all vehicles shipped between Australia and the US.... which is why we had the G8 ST less than 6 months from showrooms until GM killed Pontiac and filed for bankruptcy.

There's currently nothing keeping the Holden Ute from the US.

The grill will end up looking more like the Impala than the Malibu.

Re: Chevy SS/Commodore VF Renderings

Still not quite right. The lower grill opening will be much larger than the upper opening.

Commodore spy shots - Should be similar to the SS:

We still have to wait until the Daytona 500 next February to see the actual car.

Considering changing from buying Commodores. Test drove the Toyota 86 GTS. Such a fun little RWD car and cheap.
