.

. That said, by the time a new Camaro actually shows up, you Mustang might actually be "stale." Don't start to worry until at least 2009. [/QUOTE]

sounds like trade in time to me,a 400hp Z28 with not sitting on the floor and a trunk would do fine.Till then I will enjoy the stang.

I wouldn't call it stale. I went car shopping last week and I thought it looked pretty nice despite the rear overhang. Though it is going to be all over pretty soon. I have seen a few on the road around here. But GMs rebate, GM card earning program (which they added an additional offer to giving me an evtra 1300 off), and the LS1 made me go for the GTO. Man is it fun.

I just don't think sporty cars need to be excessively large. I don't see the point of large coupes, unless they can carry 5 passengers. And if they're that large, why not just get a sedan.

And regarding C6, I think it's tidier dimensions make it look much more contemporary than the C5 ( it's a sports car, ya know)..... especially when you see a C5 and C6 next to each other.

Yes.

But that's what happens when you blatantly plagerize a 30 year old design with NOTHING original (OK, except maybe the rear 3/4 windows and aluminum on the dash..way to make that big step!). There's nothing there that any of us haven't already seen before. And the more I see of it the less aggresive I think it is.

The cornfield commercial is cool though, dead actor for a dead design.....

'Athletic' and 'nimble' are the words I've been using, and I agree completely.

You may wqant to hang onto that business card as it may become a momento of sorts, I'm no longer there. I have switched career once again, it didn't look like I was going to make any money selling cars.....

And now, back to our original program.....

I think a sporty car should have some "presence." Doesn't mean it has to be big, just not tiny.

Not to me, but I like the styling. This is probably the first time in my life I've caught myself considering a Mustang.
If you hate the "retro thing", then ya, I'll bet you hate it already.

I have a question. Why is it that some people type out M*stang instead of Mustang (same for Ford)?

Ahha. The old "presence" argument. Exactly how many cubic feet of space is required for you to get this presence effect? Is it safe to say that the more space used, the more "presence" it would have. And is this "presence" a good thing? For a "sporty" car?

I sort of like the "presence of spirit" that driving a fast, powerful, agile car gives you. Many people may claim to get a rush. I do. The bigger it is (more presence??), the less of that spirit you'll get.

I suppose a Sumo wrestler riding a bicycle has "presence" also. Somehow Lance Armstrong seems more appropriate.

Like Tim said, "athletic and nimble".

I'm not a big fan of the current design, but i appreciate the fact that it does what it's supposed to do, and millions of people out there do like it...but to say that the car is 100 percent right from the start or that it looks better than the original concept is outlandish, imo :blah:

I agree on the stale look.
I liked the concept car alot, and it blew me away when I saw it in person.
But for the production version, they changed it just enough to make it too boring.
Saw one on the street for the first time last night, and the first thought that came to mind was "meh".
The second thought that came to mind was "hmm, I should turn around and race him"

I would say 3rd Gens and C5's fit that description and they are not little cars.

I don't find tiny/little cars sporty. They just, aren't. I like a nice medium sport coupe. I don't like sports cars that have the size and overhangs of regular everyday sedans. While 67-68's are my favorite 1st Gens, I have sometimes thought that they would look even better if they had the 69's increased dimensions. They were only 1.5" longer and wider, but it shows when you look at them. (especially when they tried to use the 68 spoiler on the 69 and had to make a new one to fit right) The 70 was 2" bigger than the 69 and they don't look too big or like they can't move either.
