Am I outgrowing "Camaro"?

You can have an extremely refined car....but with very few options.
Refined in they way it drives and feels. Refined in the way it's chassis responds to your inputs. Refined in the smoothness of its powertrain.
This is simply mechanical goodness. You can have a refined car with cloth seats, crank windows and a reasonable sticker.
On the other hand, you can add all the high dollar options you want on an unrefined car....and in the end, what you have is a very expensive turd.

Think Catera or Bonneville for the turd.

I think some of you guys are missing the point. As you grow up and mature, you are expected to WANT TO migrate from Camaro to Cadillac. If not, then GM isn't doing their job.
Think about it. You're older. You make more money. Image, style and grace are important, yet you still have the longing to smack someone in the face from time to time and mash the accelerator to the floor board.
You are now GM's target Cadillac audience.
Then when you hit 50, and happen to suffer a midlife crisis; you move towards Corvette, a hair transplant and a twenty-something trophy mistress.

But i still LOVE my Camaro......Ok it's a 1969, but still.....
Re: Am I outgrowing "Camaro"?
That was my point. I've never really seen the Camaro as the "rough, unrefined car." Granted, when I bought my '94 i realized that they were semi-rough cars, but before then I thought of them as "lacking options."
I'm trying to say that the new Camaro should be a refined car. Smooth powertrain. Solid handling. Smooth drivetrain. But, with stuff like cloth seats, crank windows, and the like. Not all the lux options.

I'm 27. My first F-body was a 1995 Formula that I bought back in 1998. I now have a 2002 Firehawk that I bought brand new in 2002. I enjoy the firehawk alot but when I see that the MSRP of my car is $35,000 and I dont have onstar, heated seats, navigation, heated mirrors, etc I feel kinda cheated. My freind has a 2001 Jetta that has heated seats and Grand Prixs have heated seats and HUD's. If the new camaro is to be succesful it has to appeal to everyone not just people that want a box with a 454 in it.

If you bought a Firehawk searching for luxury and appointments, then you bought the wrong car.
If you need some convincing as to the wisdom of your purchase relative to his, line them both up at a stoplight and press the big long pedal on the right all the way down to the floor when the light turns green...
That should help remind you of what the machine you bought is.
He got heated seats and a motor made for girls.
You got non-heated seats and fire-breathing dragon of an American V8 with the transmission, braking and handling to match, and if that ain't enough for you, turn in your ********* now and go buy a Jetta.

Platform details aside, I think the biggest choice for me, for RWD V8 power in the GM camp, would be GTO or Camaro.. Especially since I can see both being almost equal in price, loaded to the hilt.
So then the question would be, would the GTO's more lux and toys, more supple ride, heavier weight..
or the Camaor's more aggresive performance and ride, with hopefully better brakes, lighter weight, more hp, etc for much better raw peformance stats.
Either that or I'd expect the Camaro is simply going to be cheaper, for about the same equiv performance specs (I'd assume the Camaro will sitll be more agressive tuned in suspension though) with just less lux inside.. then is the question of say, do I want to spend the extra $ to get a nicer overall car instead.
Bottom line, its all about overall VALUE(not just simply raw performance/$). With comprable value, then it should simply be a consideration of lux vs performance tradeoffs.
