It was the GTO making 575. Other articles say 500hp. Production Z06 is getting a 500hp 6.35L LS7 according to most of the connected sources.

And you were wrong the first time due to the fact that this vehicle is emissions COMPLIANT. Resolution drops as the airflow increases past the normal operation of the sensor or if there's lots of turbulence - good enough for a hotrod, not good enough for a GM vehicle that has purposes beyond just going fast. At any point they could have added the MAF past the "butt-pipe" if resolution wasn't an issue - but they didn't...

That looks awesome, I like the body, but they riced it up a little too much.

dabez1: Yeah I really didn't think that initially, but now that you've said that It really does look damn heavy. No wonder they needed 575hp...

Re: 500hp GTO picutres

well, the one article says its a 6.3, this one says its a 389, which is 6.5.
What I want to know is if there is any future in these motors, or are these just one-offs that will never see the light of day? Could we see a 450hp 6.3 V8 in an top of the line GTO or Camaro?

Is it? 389*2.54^3 = 6374cc

This looks to be a highly tuned special LS7 with 2 MAFS

Production LS7s will be 500hp motors with the normal single MAF.

Good question.

It is my belief that the LS7 was going to be 6.4L (called 6.3 in some circles). 500 hp in a certifiable package is alot to ask of 6.4L.

AFAIK, the LS7 will be 7.0L. I wonder if this GTO has one of the old 6.4 "LS7" engines?

I just got back from the dream cruise. I saw it and I got a close up video of it. It sounds so mean! Pictures don't do it justice.

Re: 500hp GTO picutres

To add something positive....at least it is the right color to be labled "The Judge", and though I still don't like the extra "flash" (understatement), the original Judge was all about flash.

Quick question....are we sure those are dual MAF meters? Look at pic #2 above.

Re: 500hp GTO picutres

I stopped and looked at yesterday also. One bad look'n and sounding ride if you ask me. Now let's see if they build it looking anything like that.

Side note: Out of the past 7 years that I've gone this year's cruise kicked major a$$.

Your wrong. The MAF is just fine and there are many tuner cars that pass emmissions using stock MAF and are carb certified.
