It may be intentional for every major revision. Wasn't this the goal with Scion--to never re-use the same model name? They broke that with the new xB, but followed suit with the xA replacement. Maybe if Cobalt had been a larger hit they would have kept it. To me, the Cobalt is a car that's a notch better than the Cavalier by today's standards.

This is a long held, much quoted urban legend. "No Va" means "Doesn't Go" in Spanish. But "Nova" means the same thing in Spanish as it does in English. And the Nova sold pretty well in Mexico.
