2009 Chevrolet Cruze
So there will be no 2009 Cobalt? I thought Cobalt was going to continue as-is until the 2010 model year?
So much for the Cobalt SS with the turbo... I guess that'll end up being a VERY limited production run in its current format... less than a year.
Too much stuff doesn't make sense about all of this compact car talk. All I know is I hope GM really makes something out of it... this is their shot to get out of this mess.

I have a feeling that the Cobalt may continue on as a coupe, especially the SS, and the sedan may eventually get dropped in favor of the Cruze.
So then is the Cobalt name dead? Or will the Cobalt be moving up market and get bigger under the Malibu? Or will the next Cobalt replace the Aveo and go on the Gamma platform?
2009 Cobalts will be on dealer lots in a few weeks. In fact the XFE now gets 37mpg
Maybe the Cruze will be the sedan and Cobalt will be the delta II coupe

Holy Mass Confusions Batman!!!
The Cobalt will live on for 2009 and 2010. The Cruze will then take over in mid to late 2010 and Cobalt will die. Cruze will first launch in Europe, then over the rest of the world. The Cruze does sit on the new Delta II platform.
The other car will be the Aveo replacement that apparently will also be built on Delta II or Gamma that will also be built in Lordstown. Both will use the 1.4 DI turbo engine, but no idea on if the Cruze of Aveo will get the 45mpg rating.

That is a really dumb name , who in the hell thinks up this "hip" stuff . The only people that are gonna think the name Cruz is hip are people who arent hip at all
Hey I gotta clue in for ya . Instead of changing the name with every new generation , why dont we build brand identity with great class leading product with a single lasting name .
And they wonder why cars like Civic and Corolla have so much brand identity .
Hmmm , think I'll go Cruzzz YO in my Cruz

I have to get my next car by late October 2009 when my 335i lease is up, so is the cruze going to be out by then or not? 2010 MODEL year vehicles will be but it sounds like you guys might be saying the cobalt replacement won't be here until 2010 calendar year?
Maybe I am not reading between the lines, but how do we know that it won't be called Cobalt when it hits the states. The length in meters might be a sign that this is a global name, not necessarily a name for the US.
Most the stuff I've read has been saying the car will be shown during this winters auto show season and then start production in mid 2009.
I'm guessing as GM indends this to be a world small car that "Cruze" had better global appeal over "Cobalt".I still say (although I have no proof) the 2-door Cobalt coupe will live on for a while after the Cruze 4-door sedan replaces the Cobalt 4-door sedan.
How many times around this website alone have we seen "Cobolt"?

LOL. Interesting... made me think that maybe they purposefully misspelled "Cruise" because people can't spell Cobalt.
