Well in excess of 500HP is very well known territory for Nissan; what they'll put in a production car for the US is questionable but Nissan, Toyota and Honda are starting what appears to be a full-fledged HP war so I guess time will tell.

What isn't being mentioned here (funny that??? ) is that the team with the Nissan did everything with donated parts and time...they built the car and ran on PINKS to donate anything made to charity (I can't remember which one off hand) meaning their choice of powerplants was much more of convenienve than anything else...anyway...

The team they were supposed to race had to forfit (blown engine) so the team that folded gave the Nissan/Chevy team $2,500 as a donation to the chrity they were racing for. Then Rich asked if they would race the guys with the Mustang.

However, just about any car with a working enging would have beat the Mustang...the Mustang won the first race because the Nissan guys couldn't get their car started (electrical) but the Mustange lost everything after as on every pass, the Mustang caught fire - frankly I was surprised they allowed the Mustang to keep racing (guess they needed to fill up the time!).

You'll never here me say the LS1 isn't a great engine but it definetly was not needed that night on PINKS.
