Trailblazer to be axed?
I heard a couple of months ago that the Trailblazer was going to be axed after the '07 model. I was pretty surprised about it and haven't heard much more until today in another thread here.
Why is this happening? Is it due to those slow sales and going to be removed completely or is it going to be replaced with something else?

Re: Trailblazer to be axed?
Welcome to today's newest fad...."crossover" vehicles!
Does Ford have plans to axe the Explorer? I believe the Trailblazer very recently topped Explorer in sales for the first time, which I thought was pretty significant since the Explorer has held the SUV sales title forever.
I don't think GM has made anything official, but the writing is on the wall to me. They're practically giving them away (you can regularly find $159/month lease deals on LS 2WD models) and there's no plans to update the horrendous interior or getting-dated exterior.

Re: Trailblazer to be axed?
Maybe they will bring back a smaller Blazer based on the short Colorado 2.0 platfom
Re: Trailblazer to be axed?
I'd rather have smaller, car-based SUVs with better handling characteristics and fuel economy. Whether they're a fad or not I don't know. For a lot of drivers, crossovers make more sense than the often oversized (generally speaking and for the owner's needs) traditional SUV.
Re: Trailblazer to be axed?
Yeah, I dont know if they are going to invest any more money in a next gen 360 chassis, especialy after the major investment in the 900's and the Lambda platforms.
IMO, it would be a good idea to create a more flexable NG 360 chassis, one that could make both mid sized SUV and truck.
This could give you a nice Tblazer, Envoy and a bigger H3. Everyone else gets Lambda (including GMC) crossovers, and then make a 360 midsized Colorado and Canyon. This would give a much better platform to make a real mid sized SUV and truck, carry the 5, 6 and V8 engines, and several 4WD systems from a basic system for Colorado to an advanced system for the H3. H3 could be a REAL Grand Cherokee/Pathfinder/4Runner fighter.

Re: Trailblazer to be axed?
I'm just guessing here but I do think the crossover SUV market is expanding while more traditional, especially truck based, SUVs are continuing to slow.
I just (yesterday) ordered an Infinity QX56 (the full-sized SUV) and the only other vehicle I was considering was the FX45...the performance of the FX45 is pretty appealing but in the end, I wanted the room and towing capacity of the QX.
My point being, I've no doubt that a lot of people would make a comparison like that and opt for the better performing (more nimble, faster, better MPG and and usually slightly less expensive) crossover.

Re: Trailblazer to be axed?
You sure are a Nissan feen. Why get the QX56 instead of the all best in class Escalade, or even a Tahoe LTZ?
