11 pages dedicated to a truck.....

...an S.U.V. no less.....

attn GM: we desperately need some nugget of info, speculation, mis-quote about a new Camaro....we're running out of things to disagree about!

Maybe a blurry photo of a 'Vette or Cobalt we can claim is the 5th gen if you look close enough while standing on your head and looking through rose colored glasses.

Well more or less this is a sneak peak at the entire GMT-900 platform and if you think about it the 900 platform is going to probably be the most crucial platform to GM's bottom line over the next 6-8 years or so unless gas prices change things quite a bit.

And in a way the success of this platform could affect the future of the fbody.

The next gen GM trucks are the reason there was no money for all the RWD products that got canned earlier this year.

They're the reason why the Camaro is not a big concern at GM. But they're also the only reason there may be enough cash to do a Camaro in a few years.

And be glad that GM regained its sanity in time to plow every last penny into what will make or break the company. Had they not gotten this truck right and out on time, GM would become a very small company very quickly.

Give the devil his due. Ford was in the same boat with the F-150 when the current gen was introed. Yet some how they still managed to come out with a new Mustang that aint that bad a car. Maybe the problem isnt money but management?

Yup. But the stang was in the top 5 priority list over at Ford.(probably #2 thanks to Bill Ford Jr.)

The Camaro doesn't rate in GM.

Again, and you know this becaaaauuuussse.....

We have been assured by some people "in the know" here that Camaro is a very big priority at Chevrolet. Perhaps their biggest after the new trucks.

becaaaauuuussse..... I can read.

Which worthwhile insider has assured you that the Camaro is a big priority at GM?

Cuz sure I havn't heard Lutz or Wagoner say anything about Camaros. They sure talk a lot about Corvettes, though. Special edition Corvettes and Super Corvettes with blue devils.

And then there's that pesky thing. Like no chassis.

In fact the Camaro "rates" so high that it was going to have the privilege of of being morphed onto a 4 dr large sedan chassis when/if GM ever got around to it. As it is, it never even showed up on the now defunct zeta roadmap.

So? Mustang "rated" so high at Ford it wound up loosely based on a luxury sedan. We know Mustang is always high priority at Ford and I don't think having it "morphed" onto a sedan chassis hurt it.

The fact is, your constant doom and gloom predictions about the Camaro go against everything that we've been told here to this point. I know you're a Ford guy so it might give you the warm and fuzzies thinking about an unchallenged Mustang. Still, it's almost as if you're taking shots in the dark in the slim chance we don't get a Camaro within the next 5 years so you can come back here and play the "I told you so" card.

Lets see Scott seems to think that January will be VERY exciting for all Camaro enthusiests, evok, Guy, and others thing that we will have a very interesting next few months.

As for not having a platform. What do you think that Sigma-lite that Mark Ruess was talking about is for? How about the redefinition of Zeta with new engineering and a new business plan? Guess what coupe is playing a HUGE part in that.

Please pay more attention big blue.

Yeah. That sedan chassis took a few a years to morph. And it no longer resembles a Lincoln LS DEW chassis.

whining snipped...

Oh... so you're on MY timeline now? Without even acknowledging that concession? Geez, you GM fanboys can contort with the best of 'em.

2010.

The ability to generalize without focusing on the pertinent facts is an affliction reserved for the "faithful."

Guion, Z284ever, nor Evok have ever said the Camaro is a big priority at GM. You wouldn't need insiders to know the big priorities at GM. The big guys themselves like to talk about it.

Is it gonna get done? Yeah.. sure .. eventually.. It'll get done when it gets done.... 2010. There's your priority.

Platform? Sigma-lite is vaporware.

redefinition of zeta? new engineering? new business plan?
