There is no way in heavens name a 375hp motor with those mods will pick up 100hp. 60hp I could see... not the easiest, but I could see it.

So a cheaper version of the GT engine making something north of or around 450+ hp is a possibility without the extra price tag.
Now that makes more sense.

Wow. That thing is pretty stout. Not bad for a factory block.

You gotta give Ford credit where it'd due - though the motors arent the most fuel efficient in the mpg catagory, they are building some decent high end motors...
Re: 07' Cobra is suppose to take out the new Z06'!
There are people running 700 RWHP on stock blocks, but IMHO, they're seriously pushing their luck - though I wish them the best. Mine has a KB running 17 lbs (about the pump gas limit), and should be making ~550-575 RWHP (dyno tomorrow). That's as far as I'm going with it.
As for mileage...they can be pretty efficient (my 99 got very good mileage, even with gear), but that blower just kills it. The KB blower kills it even more - which is the one thing I don't like about the setup (I drive a lot...LOL).

I can maybe see Ford matching on raw power and straight line accel..
But with the Mustang, I don't see it matching on handling.. and the little spec details like weight and balance and feel..
Also, I'd be surprised if they use a drysump, and toss in the extra transaxle coolers..
nor would they be able to completely match the gleam that the Vette has being somewhat related to the c6r program..

Wont happen. Also Ford didnt make Supercharged 4.6L Cobras till they started a few years ago. They can start anything at anytime.
The 390hp 4.6L Cobra was a great benchmark, but I dont think the new Cobra will be up in the next Z06's territory. Aside from Image and Prestige (dead horse) there's the fact of 500hp vs 500hp is great - but the extra 400lb-500lb of weight isnt, and that's a huge difference. Not to mention it wont handle like the new Z06. Not really possible. Maybe, sure, but they'd spend a lot on tweaking the suspension to hold that well. Again, not gonna happen. You'd bump the price another $4000 in suspension upgrades.
Perhaps a 450hp Cobra, but it certainly wont be the same engine as the GT.

It's actually $34K.

But there's no way to base the cost of 10K+ motors for the Cobra off of the list price for the limited run of a few hundred dry sump GT motors.

. If they can get it to flow well, why not use it? Especially if it saves weight and $$ in the process.
Re: 07' Cobra is suppose to take out the new Z06'!
By saying "the same 5.4L engine" I meant as the Lightning. Supposedly they are putting a new, beefed up 5.4L engine from the Lightning in the new Cobra. We'll see next month.
