Will 28" tall tires fit an f-body?

I was wondering if anyone is using a 28" tall tire for the street. I have seen a couple of 28" tall slicks on some f-body's but I dont know if makeing them fit was easy. I currently have Nitto 315/35/17 drag radials on 17's for the street and 26" slicks for the strip. I dont like the look of the 17" wheels and I would like to run some 15 welds Without going smaller than a 315 drag radial. Nitto's widest 15" tire is a 275, but BFG makes a 325/50/15, but it is 28" tall compared to the Nitto 275/50/15 which is around the stock 26" height? Would the BFG 325/50/15 fit height and width wise or should I go with the shorter and thinner 275/50/15. This is a nine second car with a th400 and 3.73 gears so The taller 28" tire would help with traction, and loss of an overdrive a little on the street. Right?
Nitto also makes a 275/60/15 which is 28" tall like the BFG. Also for the strip, on a nine second car, with a th400 and 3.73 would 28" slicks be better than my 26" slicks?

The 325/50-15 BFG DR has a diameter of 27.9" and a section width of 13.0".

DIAMETER: - should be OK. I ran Hoosier QTP's at 28.0" diameter, and they only became a problem when they started to grow at trap speeds over 120mph. My solution for that problem was to move the rear axle assembly back about 1/4", so that if the tires hit anything, it would be the soft rubber bumper cover in the rear, and not the sheetmetal at the front of the wheel opening. The tires did rub on the bumper cover as trap speeds went up.

But, I just switched to ET Drag 28x10.5-15W's, and they are listed in the book at 28.1" diameter, and so far I have cut about 1/2" off the rubber bumper cover, and that is nowhere near enough... I figure I will need to take at least 1" and maybe 1.5" off the rubber cover. There is a technique for using a metal spacer to move the rubber bumper cover out from the body by inserting the spacer between the cover and the metal mounting tab on the body, but I haven't checked into that yet.

Also note, that how much the axle moves depends on the type bushings you have in the LCA's. Right now I have ES poly and I think that the axle will move less with rod ends.... Steve Spohn agreed this is a good idea. So.... if you have rod end LCA's the front-to-back spacing in the wheel opening should be less of an issue.

SECTION WIDTH: If you have 315/35's you probably have already hammered the inner fenders depending on the wheels you are using. And, whether the section width causes a problem on street tires will also depend on the width and backspace of the rims. I have Weld Pro-Stars, 15x10 w/ 7.5" BS.

Your 325/50's would have a 13.0", compared to 12.4" section for the typical 275/40. Again, my QTP's (11.2" section) obviously fit with no problems, but my ET Drags (13.1" section) did require a little more hammering in the inner fenderes than the 315/35's.

What you have to understand is that each car seems to be DIFFERENT. I know I've seen people claim they put 315/35's in there with NO alterations.... I had to do a lot to fit them. Yet I had little if any problems with the QTP's, yet others have had to cut huge sections out of the sheet metal above the jounce bumpers to make them fit.

TH400 w/ 3.73's.... yes, 28" tires will help. With street tires (the 315/35 DR's) and 4.10's I was almost to 4,000rpm at 70mph. I opted for the Gear Vendor, rather than 28" street tires.

Does anyone have any pictures of a 28" tire on a 15" prostar

Is the look and taller tire worth the fitment problems for a street wheel/tire combo.
What is the tread width of a nitto 275/60/15 or a 275/40/15 the 275 would fit alot better but I don't really want to go smaller than my 315's. Would the fitment problem with the BFG 325/50/15 be the 28" height or the 13" section width? I have the specs for the BFG and it says the 325 only has a 10.4 tread width compared to my 315's which are almost 12"
