That's the biggest question. Extended cab with only 350 HP? Why bother.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday, June 18th, 2002....the truck plant here will be building five 2003 Model Year Silverado SS Pilot vehicles. The current plans are to introduce these models into regular production in early December. Some of the features of this vehicle are:

345hp 6.0 Liter V8
All wheel drive
Body colored mirrors and door handles
Special bumpers

This comes from a news letter handed out within the GM-Oshawa truck plant centre. I can post more info as it becomes available.

What a disappointment, I really thought they were pulling a fast one on us and that they would produce something worthy when it actually went into production, but that is really sad. seesh GM i thought you wanted to "blow the doors off the lightning" with this POS we will be lucky to blow the doors off a Harley F-150 let alone the mighty L... GM got no bal*z

345 HP and AWD...sounds like the Sierra C3. Do you know anybody who has purchased a C3, let alone purchased one for its performance?

I'm not too upset about the Silverado SS. 345 hp, AWD and 20" wheels will make it nice enough.....

Does it really need to blow away an SR/T in a straight line?

After all this is just a truck!

Now if Chevy came out with a Z/28 that didn't absolutely blow away it's competitors....now, that would be something to get mad about!

I thought the 345HP 6.0L was a Caddy exclusive? What happened to the 390HP 6.0L in the 1999 concept? If this is short box reg cab it will be an ok truck, but ex-cab would just be a Chevy version of the C3.

if they aren't going to use the 8.1L or a S/C V8 then they should just use the LS6.

I hope they can keep the cost down to $30K or lower.

This might be a dumb question but, can someone explain what the benefit of AWD is and why I would want that over a, say, 400hp rear-wheel-only truck?
