Why do my 17`s rub?
Why do my 17`s rub?
I put on my torque Thrust 2`s about 2 weeks ago, and I noticed that my fronts are rubbing just a tad. well I have a 245/45/17 on there, why the hell is it rubbing? Didn`t some of these cars come with 275`s in the front? My car originally came with 16`s. Is there some kind of spacer or somthing I need? It`s only when I make lock to lock turns.

Do you have any pictures of how the wheel sits in the wheel-well? And what is rubbing where is the tire rubbing exactly (I presume it is the tire and not the rim rubbing).
I have the torque thrust also they are 17x9.5, they dont rub in the front but the back passenger tire has cuts from the frame cutting into the tire when I hit bumps. I put new shocks and springs in the rear but I still have the same problem? I havent gotten the Eibach springs for this reason.
The TT-II's are marginal on "backspace". The specs I have seen show 7" backspace, which is about a 44mm offset. This puts the "frontspace".... the distance the outside edge of the wheel sticks out from the mounting face of the hub... about 3.5". That puts them very close to the outside edge of the fender, and when you turn the wheels, there is a good chance the tops of the tires are going to hit the inner fender liners, specially when the car hits a bump at the same time, and the tire gets pushed up into the wheel well.
For comparison, the stock 17x9 SS/WS6 wheels have a 55mm offset, which means a 7.2" backspace, and roughly a 2.8" "frontspace". That means that the TT's are sticking out almost 3/4" past where the stock 17x9 w/ 275/40 tires would sit.
I suspect that might explain why you are getting some contact. Can you see exactly where it is rubbing?

It doesn`t rub like when I go over a bump at all. That part is fine. It`s only when I turn the wheel it rubs in the front and back(of the wheel well). Like the tire is waaaay to wide but it`s not. I don`t think I can turn the wheel(steering wheel) as much as I could with the 16`s due to the tire hitting.
Mine does that also, i can see the tire smudge on the plastic from where the tire rubs against it, but I think the plastic probably flexs enough to where it doesnt matter? I cant see how it would stop the tire from turning? It is wierd cuz mine are the 17x9.5 I think that is wider than you stated yours were?
i dont remeber my tire sizes, maybe that is what you need to change? I will look l8tr for you, my cAr is at the shop now.
