I have a 9 year old black paint job and it is time for a new one. Can $1,000 buy me a good paint job that will last at least 4 years?

I'd say $1000 is good if you know someone. Otherwise for a good paint job you are looking at about 2000-2500 But a good paint job even with poor maintenence will last longer then 4 years.

 

I would think $1800 - $2400 range is about what you can expect. Try to do most of the prep-work yourself. The labor charge on prepping is what really drives the price up.
