What are you doing different, to require such often opti replacement?

And also a way to disperse the load on the opti drive input could be devised to help fight bearing wear.....

Are you referring to opti bearing here? If it is, each replacement opti needs to be disassembled/reassembled prior to use, to insure proper design specs are adhered to. Without that procedure, it is a crap shoot, regarding service life of opti.

I have read that the shaft in the back would creat slop....but how much and how bad would the timing be effected?

How 'bout torsinal twist of cam affecting timing? Plus the age old problem of the distributor/oil pump problems/influence at higher revs.

With 4 cars... it seems like i never get any rest was my point! all of these cars are heavily modded, and carry aftermarket ignition boxes, one has a SC, one is a solid roller cam setup that sees in excess of 7500 RPM whenever it is driven, one is on its way to being a turbo setup.. I just want a replacement solution....the opti is NOT a good unit, design intention is awesomes and i know it capabilities, but it is far too delicated for me. wait until your on a long trip and have one go out... it starts doing funny things with timing... i have had to replace head gaskets when an optispark went out due to the erratic spark and scatter, trying to figure why the units I have bought failed is not even a humorable option at this point. if i continue to use them they are being relocated, if there is a better solution that someone has available right now that has been road tested for at least 50k and has been washed 4-5 times with soap and water during that time and driven in rain... I will purchase them. again this is just me.. want the better solution to all of it... not sure what is involved on a Fbody for just the opti replacement, but it is a nightmare and consumes and entire weekend day for me to accomplish and do right. oh well, if anyone knows if someone has purchased the stage 2 delteq and is satisfied with it let me know!
