What is a good Damper to get?

Ok...well, Im finally in need of a high rpm damper. What is a good one to purchase for up to 7000rpm use? Are there any that dont cost $400 like the ATI super damper but would still be good for my use?

Well, after searching....I see there really isnt much to pick from. Guess Ill just go with an ATI. Now, just got to find one for a good price.

Edit::I just found this:

CAT fluid damper pulley kits are exclusively designed and specially manufactured by our engineering expertise; the fluid damper pullet kits are patented in the U.S. and worldwide. The main housings and crankshaft hubs are precision forged from 1020 low carbon steel. The water pump pulleys are extruded from 6061 aluminum alloys with T-6 heat treatment. The high viscosity silicone fluid and inertia ring absorbs the torsion vibration from the rotating assembly at any frequency and RPM. All CAT pulley fluid damper kits are tested and certified in compliance with SFI 18.1 specification

PDK-9002 GM CAMARO/ FIREBIRD LT1/LT4,Steel 2Pcs/Set, '93-97 $239

Have any of you run or used this? Its price seems a lot better than ATI, but if its a POS then Im sure its not worth the savings.

That looks like a really good price for a sfi approved damper/pulley. I wonder if it's any good?

Dont know....thats what Im wondering. Come on guys, one of you have to know if this is any good or not. If nothing else, I guess I might be one of the first to test it.

I also just emailed them asking why it says the LT1 kit comes with a water pump pulley. I think thats intended for the other cars this can work on, but im not 100% sure.

I wonder if the pulley and damper are seperate or of the other piece is the hub part? I didn't think there is enough room to run a seperate pulley after a damper.

fluid damper is a 1 peice unit or at least the one i seen was, plus it weighs twice as much as an Ati super damp. both are nice units, but for me it was the Ati that won out because i didn't want to put the extra weight on the end of the crankshaft... hope this helps....

Damn....its that much heavier than ATI. I already added enough weight with my pistons/rods and McLeod steel flywheel. I dont think I need any more weight. Guess Ill have to put up the cash for ATI.

I've had a really good experiance with the ATI balancer on my car.

I hear there is going to be a few new ones for blown applications as well coming soon from them. As to the full details on whats different...I dunno.

Are you possibly speaking of Fluidampr the brand of damper being twice as heavy as the ATI, I know ATI you can either get steel or aluminum so the alum is obviously going to be way lighter, just want to clarify incase you are not speaking of the damper he has in question, the CAT one.

Summit sells a pioneer damper part # pio-872013 for $115.95 check it out. I don't know if that is what you are looking for but it's worth a try.

Youre not too late. I am waiting on jegs and this other place to call me back tomorrow and see how heavy the new damper jegs offers and the CAT damper is. I dont want a Fluiddamper brand really due to it being a pig in weight. But, I have heard nothing but good things about it till now for the under 7000rpm area. Hopefully, Ill know tomorrow what Im going with. Later!

::EDIT:: I just noticed you said it blew over 7000rpm. Hopefully, that wont be a worry for me causei am not spinning past 6700rpm or so. But, I still appreciate knowing that!
