Ok I need some help here. Just Dyno'ed the combo and I'm pissed.

I'll give you both numbers. Remember, I live at 5,600 feet elevation.
Corrected was 456rwhp,
Uncorrected was 354rwhp at this altitude.

I was exspecting at least 380rwhp here which would correct out to around 500rwhp at sea-level. I'd be happy with 480. The motor is a 396 bored 40 over. Compression is 12.5.1, which at this altitude is more like 11.5.1 so I was told. The heads are AFR 210's ported be GTP which flow
.200--153.4/103.5
.300--209.1/157.9
.400--254.6/195.7
.450--269.6
.500--281.5/221.6
.550--291.8/227.6
.600--299.3/231.7
.650--306.0/233.6
.700--310.5/235.9
I did have them flow checked some where else and the numbers were close. The spec's on the cam which is a solid are
250/256@.050 lift is 644/614 on a 112ls. I was told I'd make better power with a different cam. GTP told me that the present cam would love NOS. As I'm not good with cam's I relie on others to help me there. I just did a leak down on the motor and the results were 3 to 5% at the most.

What would you guy's change if anything??? When I dyno'ed it was through a 9" and 28" slicks. I'm sure with the street tires on it would show a little more power but not near the amount that I'm looking for.

Thanks

Neal

If the mods want to move it that's ok, but I really wanted some adv, reply's. The tunning is by Fast Chips. I'm buying a fast system for the car, and I'm sure when it gets here will help some.

I'm just wondering if the cam is hurting me. What cam would you guy's put init. This car is lucky to see 20 to 50 miles a week on the street. Most of the time will be spent at the track. I was really hoping for 500 at the tire that this motor should produce.

Sorry about that.

it's a T56. Has Hooker Long tubes on it, and a Currie 9" in the rear. I know the 9" will eat up more HP. Not sure how much though. All this is running through my Borla Exhaust with the smallest open plate in place.

How do the low lift number look? I was told they could be better.

Pony...are we to assume that the tune is as spot-on as Ed can get it via mail order? What did the AFR look like? Was the PCM pulling any timing during the pulls?? How much timing are you running??? That really isn't a very large solid roller cam. While I agree that you should probably be making 475-480 to the ground, you really aren't that far off.

Assuming the car is right, i.e., new plugs, wires, good opti, no vacuum leaks, enough fuel delivery.....What I would do is send Ed Wright all the info you can on your pulls, and let him take a look at it. He'll make any needed adjustments on his dime to make sure your making all the power you can.

Good luck....let us know what happens.

You mean a Borla 3" catback? Seems like an awful small exhaust for that setup... unless its just not required at 5,600-ft.

Try it with open headers to see if that exhaust is acting like a cork, or at least open it up by taking the plate out completely.

456rw would equate to about 542flywheel, assuming the drivetrain losses I measured at that HP, with a T56, and adding the 3% extra losses for the 9-inch vs. a 12-bolt. Seems like there is about 50-55flywheelHP missing. The big slicks will suck down the power a tad..

Thanks guy's. I'm going back this weekend to log some more pulls so I'll take your advice and send my results to ED.

The Air fuel was a flat line at 12.0 and then around 6200 to 6800 went to 13.0. Car made peak power at 6,200 and lost about 5hp to 6,800rpm's.

The car did run 12.0@116mph here at this altitude, on the factory slipping clutch. That was on a 1.81 60'. With a clutch and a 60' in the 1.5's it should run 11.70's. Ten's at Seal-level.

get a real exhaust on that thing!

i would put a 4" on it, or something along those lines.

Even better, get some 1- 7/8th header :-D
