well hes already in the 9's with that intake and there is only one other place to go after that.........FASTER

Joe Overton is only slightly faster with a single plane carbed intake, i think Steve Quinn is definately on the right track with his LT1 "style" intake

now only if they cost $6-800

i am curious too? what is/are the advantages (if any) of using a top mount single plane TB/carb manifold over a front mount LT1/MiniRam style TB EFI intake?

i mean it seems to be working well with SQ and his combo!!

Steve,

Don't you think your custom designed intake would benefit substantially with a top mounted throttle body or possibly customizing it to fit a monoblade on top. ?????? Anyone.......

just a guess........but im assuming it wouldnt make sense with all the modification youd need to use the lt1 manifold with a top mount ..........there are already kickass single plane top mount intakes that are probably easier to modify to fit.

here are some pics of My Hogans sitting on the motor. Heck the hood even closes

http://groups.msn.com/WashingtonFBod...lv.msnw?Page=7

It is just over 2inches taller then stock. Wait till you see what the blue one looks like when we are done.

Figuring around 250-270 CI plenum volume. we will see when it is done.

Does anyone know of someone running a MorePerformance manifold or Hogan {naturally aspirated set-up} so we can see a head to head comparisono on the manifolds. I put my paycheck on Steve's unit. Anyone...........

I have a Hogan sheetmetal manifold on my 355" naturally aspirated, stock throttle body, solid roller, ported head, LT1. I really haven't done comparison testing but I believe that this combination hasn't been fully explored. So far. . . best ET of 10.004 @ 132.60. The car runs at 2990 pounds. The porting is minimal since the runner cc's are no more than 175 cc intake and 68 cc exhaust. The chamber cc's are all over 51.9 combined with a stock head gasket. I'm confident that the car will run 9.80's or better in good air once the fuel map is refined a little more.

Is this a NHRA super stock car? 4-link or stock type susp? What size tire are you running?

Bingo! It is a legal S/S suspension including 4-link and coil-overs. I doubt that these items make much difference most of the time although they are expensive. I just watched Al Corda click off some 9.80's with his Super Stock LS1, torque-arm, suspension Firebird, with a 9 inch tire. The more exotic stuff will help during the hot summer months when the NHRA event tracks go to hell but during the cooler part of the year, it's about a wash. Al went multiple high 1.20 60' times with the torque arm and 9 inch stocker radial at the Winternationals.

In terms of the induction system, so far the Hogan on my car has worked well. There is a similar LT1 car in New York run by Angelo DiTocco that ran some high 9.70's in good air at Englishtown. I don't know what manifold Angelo is using but it's very good, whatever it is.
