Doesnt look all that bad sitting next to a Moreperformance or Hogans with pricetags on them, for likely an equal power gain. By the time you need a sheetmetal intake, those 20hp are about all you can get, and seem like a lot.

If you compare to Hotrodhawks setup, spent lots o cash on that carb intake converted fuel injection for the small (seemingly) amount of hp increase, but Im sure if you ask him it was worth it, and needed at that point.

So unless you journey above 6000 very often, at best you'll be seeing 5 to 9 hp.

As a 6-speed owner I'm glad to see the short runner's stayed... but I think many A4 guys would like to see a longer runner option for a lower rpm curve. I belive LPE had one like this that John talked about in his book... but they're out of production I belive.

Does anyone know of someone running a MorePerformance manifold or Hogan {naturally aspirated set-up} so we can see a head to head comparisono on the manifolds. I put my paycheck on Steve's unit. Anyone...........

He just cuts the top off the LT1 or LT4 intake you provide him with, ports it out from the inside, polishes it up, and fabricates/TIG welds up a new plenum and mates to the stock TB in the same position im assuming. It says optional throttle linkage is required since the top two holes to mount the throttle cable bracket are cut off with the old plenum. He has a stock hood on the car so Im assuming it fits no problemo.
Yes, I realize they are for sale. What I meant is that I have seen that intake long before it was for sale and admired it, and was hoping that he would offer it for sale, and now he has. It looks like a sweet piece.

20 hp ABOVE a max ported lt1 intake with welded injector locations......thats more like 40hp above the regular manifold most are using.

say for an example, you have a 383 motor with good heads

with stock intake manifold.....450rwhp

fully ported, welded lt1/4 intake.....470rwhp (about $400 for a good job)

squinns intake makes 20 more hp peak.........490rwhp ($1500)

obviously these numbers are not exact, just examples

we all know that the higher you go with horsepower.......the more each little bit costs.

is it worth it for the average guy?
no.
is it worth it for a competitive racer trying to get every ounce of power?
yes.

This is great news for the hardcore LT1 community enthusiasts. Finally an intake less than 2.5K and backed up with solid horsepower increasement numbers! SPREAD THE WORD IMMEDIATELY!!!

Just some more info for you guys,

Stock plenum is 175 CI, my intake 330 Ci

Gains were seen from 6000-7400, this was FWHP.

Steve,

Have you ever considered using a Wilson 90 degree throttle adopted to your custom LT1 intake? Although more extensive modifications would be necessary to fit it on top. Do you feel it would make substantial diffrences as oppose to a front mounted throttle body? Thanks

Jonny,

He's modifing a LT1 intake to get where he is going rather than running a single plane. If you were going to a single plane that would make some sense to do though. Hood clearance starts to become your problem then.

Where exactly is he trying to go with his set-up? Any info would be appreciative. Thanks
