higher than normal fuel pressure

Copied this form Kinslers site and want some opinions on it.

"We often run about 72 psi instead of the more normal 36 to 43. The amplitude of the pressure spikes will remain about the same, but will be relatively smaller based on the percent change in injector flow. We also like the better atomization achieved with the higher pressure and it sometimes gives better power and economy. Be careful about running the fuel pressure too high, as some ECUs don't have enough current to lift the disc or pintle in the injector consistently off the seat against this added pressure, which will result in poor fuel distribution. Be sure your fuel pump is capable of supplying the engine with the volume required at a higher fuel pressure."

I've allready built a super overkill fuel system with a racetronics in tank and a sx performance pump inline. Fuel rails are also run in parallel. Only thing I have'nt purchased yet is a regulator. I'm only going to do this once as I don't want to constantly upgrade as the obsession gets worse. Kinsler offers a regular and super high pressure version that they recomend above. Will the LT1 ecu handle this? Also will that kind of pressure kill my 30#(@regular pressure) ford injectors?

Re: higher than normal fuel pressure

Wow - that's what, about 67% more pressure than our fuel lines/injectors would normally see?

I'm not gonna even try to pretend that I can answer this, but (personally) I'd be concerned about mechanical tolerances - one of the last things I'd want to worry about is an injector body eventually failing & high-pressure fuel suddenly spraying underhood at the 1000' mark on the track...

Anyone know what PSI & tolerances injectors are typically rated for??

Re: higher than normal fuel pressure

Well a FMU pretty much spikes the fuel pressure.

Currently im running 30lb SVOs at 54 psi. Havent had any problems, but would like to see an expert answer.

Re: higher than normal fuel pressure

The NOS 5176 dry kit for the LT1 pushes the fuel pressure to 85-90psi when you spray. The stock RP ball & seat injectors aren't too happy at that high a fuel pressure, but the pintle style seem to like it.
