14:1 on pump gas?

Im building a 420ci 1st gen for my 95 t/a and have a few issues I was trying to Iron out.I bought an eagle forged Rotating assembly from a buddy that has the 14:1 pop up JE pistons and was going to just mill off the dome untill i called JE and found out the dome is hollow.I dont want to shell out the 680.00 for a flat top so im stuck, is there any way to run this combo on pump gas? Here it is :Solid Roller cam has 771/780 lift 270/285 duration at .50, heads are the Brodix 23 degree cnc ported 68 cc 315@.600? Super Victor intake with 1000cfm holly dominator and msd pro billet distributer. I have heard of guys Mixing components with pump gas to yield higher octane levels and will go that route if needed. Im not running this thing around town to much just want to be able to drive it to the track and back and dont want to wast race fuel on it. If I can boost the octane and pull a little timing then when I get to the track I can fill up with 116,What are the components used to achieve this?

Well you could always go with bigger combustion chambers, or thicker head gaskets to bring that number down. Plus that cam looks pretty big...so your DCR might not be that high and actually might work on pump gas...maybe. I don't feel like doing math so I'll let someone smart and not lazy do it

With that cam you must be wanting to shift at 8000RPM'S.With a 260ish cam on a 108* with 13.3 the DCR is 9.92 which is way to high for anything but 110 VP.You have to get your DCR down to 9.0 or a tad less to run pump gas with excellent cooling.
Do a search and find a calculator and figure your DCR and see. You don't want to go more than .040 on the quench to help prevent detonation,ie,no thick head gasket.
Go with fuel driving it to the track if it isn't a LONG way.

You're never going to make a race engine like that live on pump gas unless it's detuned so much that it would be cheaper to just build a different engine. That's a bigger cam than what I have in my BBC race engine.

Keep what you have and convert to alcohol fuel.

Whats the ICL of that cam?

Whats the deck height at?

What's the gasket compressed thickness?

What's the Dome Volume on the pistons?

Run it on methanol or race gas, but not pump gas IMHO.

Re: 14:1 on pump gas?

if you are friends with someone at a machine shop see if they will take the piston's back and swap them in on or for some that will better suit your needs
