Unhappy What is wrong with my engine?!?!

My engine is acting really wierd. When i start it up right off the bat the RPMS climb to 2,500 at idle. You would think after the choke kicks in or whatever, that the RPMs would drop to a more reasonable number but it stays at 2,500 RPMs constantly. It will idle like that for a while, then all of a sudden the RPMs will drop like crazy and my car will ALMOST die but not quite. When it drops in RPMs, smoke starts pouring out of my exhaust, and sometimes the smoke is black and sometimes the smoke is white. Not only that, but right when i start my car up, there seems to be a combonation of water/oil spurting out of the exhaust. The idle is really erratic, it will vary from 600 RPM to 2,500 RPM in a matter of seconds. It just started doing this last night as i was sitting in a parking lot talking to my friend. All of a sudden my car just died, so i started it up and it started doing this. I could barely get my car home. I'm sorry this was so long and not really in depth, but if u could plz tell me what the heck is wrong with my engine i would appreciate it!

Thanks guys,

Eric

I'm not positive what liquid pouring out of the exhaust means but I know its bad. Im pretty sure its a blown head-gasket.

The weird idling problem can also be cause by a bad Mass Airflow Sensor, but that doesn't explain the liquid coming out of the exhaust. Does your car throw a check engine code?

check your vaccum lines that could help with the idle a little bit!

Sounds like an intake gasket to me. The goofy idle would be due to the monstrous vacuum leak on just one or 2 cylinders, and the liquid exhaust could be coolant leaking into an intake port and blowing through. The high idle is probably the computer trying to keep it running so you can "limp home." A head gasket could do it too....run a compression/leakdown check and that'll tell you for sure.
