been having wierd issues latley my voltage has been flucuating on the dash guage from like 15 on startup till like 10 when lights blinker and brake lights are on and electric fan well i brought to advance auto parts and they said i was throwing out 90 amps and maintaing charge with my lights and fan on. sometimes my belt squeels on start up and sometimes it squeals while im driving i tightened pretty good i think. but tonight i was backing otu of my garage with my lights on and it stalled i strated it back up and was fine and volts where at 13 even i think before it stalled or while it did the lights kinda dimmed but stayed on and it cranked sorta of long what could this be im putting power pulleys on i know its gonna kill my car should i just go ahead and replace the battery and alt for the hell of it

 

Don't trust your gauge. Get a voltmeter and check it with that. My gauge reads 9 volts at idle even though the alternator is putting out 14.6v and the battery is charging at a steady 13.8v.

 

Could the voltage regulator be shot?

 

just replaced the voltage regulator in may and it want even bad did it for ****s and giggles

 

Then it is up to you to check the charging circuit and see what voltage it is actually delivering.

What condition is your belt and tensioner? Is it also at the right tension point?

 

well the belt is new i put it on in january it was fine all year till i snipped of my a/c belt

we tensioned it again saturday .when in park i can hold above 13 volts with lights brakes blinker and a/c and cooling fan but in gear i cant. some times it cranks kinda long just a mina go it cranked fine yesterday it cranked long
