Re: Tranny possibilities

It is a good deal. All i did was go to www.ebaymotors.com and put in t-56 t56 t 56 Things like that always terrify me tho because you have no idea who rebuilt that. The whole thing could come apart in 2 weeks and youre SOL cause t-56 internals are not cheap.

Ill stick with my tko 600, its lighter and rated to 600 lb

Re: Tranny possibilities

That one you showed me had a 12year/12k warranty, so I wouldn't be too terribly worried.
So basicaly all I have to do fro the LT1 T56 to fit is get the LT1 bellhousing, driveshaft, flywheel, clutch, (and what else) to work right?

Re: Tranny possibilities

ya but the manual swap has a list of every part you need to swap an auto to a manual. And you wanted to know what it was you needed from the LT1 car. You need everything on that list.

Re: Tranny possibilities

^Oh, ok.
I will recheck that list then and see what I need.
But are you saying that an LS1 rear is more a direct bolt-in than an LT1 rear?

Re: Tranny possibilities

honestly just drop a 700r4 in stock they can hold up to 600 at its outer limit with a bit of beefing you can make it hold more and be better than a manual.
its one of the best transmission out there but if you want a good manual go with the Z5 6 speed that cam in the 92 firehawks

Re: Tranny possibilities

not sure what that is but youre not gonna find one of those trannies just laying around. From what youve said you wont be able to afford the trans for another year or so, so just start saving until you get around 2000 then worry what youre gonna put in, you have the basis for it now. Going fast isnt cheap trust me i know. You're just gonna have to baby the hell out of your t-5 until you have the money

Re: Tranny possibilities

^Ok, when you say "baby your T5", does that mean no full-throttle fun? I am gonna be pissed if you say, after all the things I did to my 305, that I cant even race in it or go full throttle
But I like to plan ahead, that is why I am planning my rear/tranny swap right now

Re: Tranny possibilities

Thats gay, lol.
Ok, another question. Is there and electric-spedo that I can get that will fit EXACTLY where the old one went, and look flush/natural?
If so, then all I need is the d/s, tranny, shifter, clutch, and flywheel right? (Talking about LT1 tranny here..)
I heard on one of those pages that I would need some other kind of console or some sh*t in order for the 6spd to fit in???

Re: Tranny possibilities

the electric speedo (atleast for the 700) is set up the same way as the cable driven except for the lack of cable.
what i mean is that if you wanted to swithc a cable driven speedo for an electric speedo (at least in the 700--i cant see why any other trannies would be much different) you just pop out the cable driven aperatus and plug in the electric one or vice-versa.

lol this post makes no sense.
