Thermostat leak and tick/clicking noise?

Yesterday I noticed a small leak from what looks like the bottom of the water neck. Should I try and just fix the leak by putting some RTV around the whole base of the water neck? Or should I remove the water neck and thermostat and reseal it?

Another thing, when I squeezed the upper radiator hose you can hear a tick/clicking noise. Is that normal to hear the thermostat tick/click?

Thanks

This posting looks exactly like the post over at thridgen.org. If so, you have a couple of responses over there.. Otherwise, replace the t-stat gasket and thermostat.

Use some RTV on each side of the new gasket and as soon as you install the housing wipe off the stuff that gets squished out.

I replaced everything yesterday. I noticed that air bleeder yesterday and was thinking it was that, but thanks for confirming it.
