AC just went out?
AC just went out?
Not sure if there is a specific forum for this but here's my situation. I have a 2000 SS A4. About 2 months I used the car and AC didn't work on the same drive car was leaking water so I went back home. 2 weeks ago put in a new Water pump and belts. Fixed the leaking and squealing noise. AC still doesn't work, does one have to do with the other? If not what are the things to look at to get to the bottom of it. Air turns on but can only feel it when on full blast and neither cold or hot air.
Re: AC just went out?
Belt drives the compressor. A wet belt could slip =no.low A/C. Probably the squeal you heard, and hopefully the new belt solved that problem. Don't know how the A/C belt is tensioned on the LS1 engine, but check belt tension... may be loose.
If the coolant got into the clutch that the belt turns to drive the compressor, the clutch may not be working. Then there's the A/C pressure sensor circuit that could be affected by coolant.
Scan if for codes. There are codes for an electrical failure of the clutch and for the pressure sensor circuit. These codes don't turn on the SES light.
Additionally, have the A/C system refrigerant pressure checked to make sure it's not low.

Well I haven't checked the AC but when I was driving I heard the squeaking noise again. It's not leaking water but guessing it's gonna be a pulley- anyway to pinpoint which one without taking out the water pump again?
Re: AC just went out?
Another question, is there any dangers with that squealing noise? Like I don't mean long distance drives since I use another car for work but as far it stopping on me or something like that besides the annoying noise
