TA Girdle

are these things worth it? i think they are like 150-200 bucks, but they say they increase the fluid volume 1 pint and strenghthen the rearend quite a bit because it has bolts that get torqued down on the end caps to keep them from walking around in there....but i don't have a lot of extra ching to throw around, because my car is in pieces, and its in the process of going back together, do you think as long as i have the rearend out and changed all the parts in it, i should put a TA girdle on it as well? i already have like $900 into my rearend, so if you guys say i don't need it, then i won't get it...do you think its a neccisity?

Re: TA Girdle

The girdle is a good investment if you plan on throwing any real power at a 10 bolt. You shouldn't be paying $200 for one though....they are usually around $120.

Re: TA Girdle

Yes, very highly recommended. Remember no more than 5 ft/lbs on those main cap braces! And while you're at it, weld the axle tubes to the housing.

Re: TA Girdle

alright, where can i pick one up for 120? as far as welding goes, just weld a bead right where the axle tube comes out of the pumpkin right? any other places i should weld to stiffen her up a bit?

Check out http://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/te...nguprear.shtml . Very good article. I am finishing up building a 10 bolt as described for my GTA.
