Yah, I plan on doing that this weekend, just got some ACDelco Rapidfire plugs im about to put in there tonight.

 

AFAIK, the computer does not receieve any feedback from the smog system. It pumps air into the exhaust manifold when the car is starting up cold and once it warms up, air only goes into the cat. It receieves no feedback from the O2 sensor which is not functioning when the car is cold.
