Unhappy 4 Fuel Injectors Offline!!! Help!!

Four fuel injectors are offline right now, all on the driver side. Guy at the shop doesn't know what he's doing. He first thought it was the MAF. It's not. Next, he thinks it's the computer chip (since it has a performance chip) but he's not sure. Anyone have a definitive answer? Please help!

Sounds like a problem in your wiring harness - maybe a loose ground. Has your mechanic checked to see if there is power at the injectors? Have you had any work done on the car recently?

No work done on the car lately. There's no voltage at the end connections. He initially thought it was a problem with the wiring harness too. They're looking for a lose ground now. I was looking for a solution which might have been a common problem in other IROCs. Is the firing sequential?

No the fireing is batch. Check for loose connectors or damaged connectors.

There are 2 fuses in the car. Each one controls 1 bank of injectors. If the fuse is good and you trace it back to the ECM and it is still good, ie the is continuity in the wires from the ECM to the injector bank then your problem may lie in the injector drivers in the ECM

I find it hard to believe no one knows this. Each bank of fuel injectors is powered by a fuse. So if one side isn't firing, one fuse is blown. They are marked INJ1 and INJ2.

what if the fuses were checked and they're okay? Also, I heard that a bad pickup coil inside the distributor can be the cause. Any more opinions? I love my car and I don't have any other car to drive to work. Thanks for all your help.

Also, the ECM drivers were checked. The car was even replaced with a new comp with no change.

Sometimes a fuse will blow and you won't be able to tell by looking at it....replace them on principle. Besides, they're cheap. I'd bet one of them is blown and you just can't tell.

If the ECM is good then follow the wires from the harness to the injector and see if it is cut or pinched by something. Mine did the same thing and was traced to a blow fuse. Checked the wiring later and found that it was pinched and shorted by the valve cover.

thanks for all the replies. I know the board shows me as a new member but I've been a member for a long time...I just forgot my old password.

Anyhow, I'll try the fuses this afternoon and let you all know what I find. The more I think about it the more I think it's a fuse...four injectors went from working to not working in less than a second.
