No fuel problem

Hello All. Please forgive me if there is clearer information around that I should have found. I have searched but find only partial information.
I have a 89 TBI 305 that does not start. It starts if I feed gas at the TBI but the pump is not priming nor pumping gas to the TBI.
Before I go to drop the tank I want to be sure that the pump is the culprit. I have read around here the existence of some test method that will force the pump to run. Can anyone provide details to such method?
I have checked the relay and found no apparent issue there. I do not know where the fuse if any is located so I have not checked for that.
Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have eliminated the relay and the pump is not running, there's not much else it could be. If your going to check the power at the tank, your still going to have to access the that area.

This is a short article I wrote some time ago to help troubleshoot the fuel pump circuit:
http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=35

From your description, the culprit could be by the tank, hopefully just a dirty C313 connector and not he pump itself because that's a little involved fix (4 hours for 2 experienced guys).

But you are definitely doing the right thing in that you want to find the source of the problem before throwing money at it or dropping the axle. That's the smart way to go. *thumb up*

Z28 and Big bad lou, thanks for the comments. I have since my post replaced the fuel pump relay. Now I hear it click when I turn the ignition on but no buzz from the fuel pump. I also checked the relay's hot terminal and there is power there. Doing the ALDL trick did nothing. I will be checking the connector in the back as a last resort. This car had been sitting for almost two years before I purchased it so who knows what the condition of those connectors is. Just thinking of that makes me wonder what the condition inside the tank is after all that time. Makes me just want to drop it out of curiosity lol.
regards,
jim

I wouldn't be overly concerned about the tank. Youcan poke a flashlight in there a take a look when you change the pump.
