Re: lg4

Hey Matt, ok so you have the same 305 I have, I also have a VERY modded LG4 in a 85 Z28 with a T-5

I`m not saying your wrong but 300 hp sounds high for a bolt on LG4

My LG4 305

Crane cam .454 lift 272 dur (i think)
305 heads with 1.94 intakes, shaved, ported and gasket matched
Edelbrock performer EGR w/ EGR block off plate
Holley 650 DP, DF, MS.
K&N 14X3 filter
Accel super coil, 8mm spiral core taylor wires and Accel plugs and modual

and all the other stuff to do rebuild

I estmate my LG4 at 250hp 300 ft lbs

It`s a HELL of alot faster now and I do agree with you saying that LG4`s can be made fun since mines a blast and will take most F-body`s and 5L rustangs bad side of my LG4 it`s a gas hogg 300km to $50 worth of gas but hay who cares when you can lay 100ft of rubber in 1st and spin it to 6800 RPM`s right

But I just want to know what you have done to your LG4 to make it 300 hp hey maybe it`s something I diddn`t do and you can help out a fellow LG4 guy.

But the reason I say 250hp and 300 ft lbs is because I rode in a stock 96 Z28 LT-1 T-56 (use to be a member that had it but I haven`t seen him here in a couple of years) and WOW, DAMN that car moves I`d be happy with it and I`m sure it woulda beat my Z28 in a race and a 96 LT-1 is 265 hp and 350 ish ft lbs

Re: lg4

Also if you think that an LS1 actually makes 305hp like advertised, you are on crack. Unless of course you are talking rwhp.

sorry matt but the 95/96/97 Camaro SS had 305 hp

The 98 LS1 in a Z28 had 305 hp (underrated)
The 98 LS1 in a SS had 320 hp also underrated

Those hoods don't add any hp.

I've got all that with the exception of *getting* after market heads..
but other than that heddman 1 5/8 shorties, y-pipe, 3" custom mandrel 80 series exhaust, aftermarket rockers going onto the new heads, electric water pump, dual electric fans, race oil pump, dual snorkel intake (until I get my IROC Turbo hood, then I am getting Ram Air), Performer intake (for now..), Performer 600 carb, a sexy cam with unmentioned specs, aftermarket HEI distributor (w/ lots of advance ), no AIR/emmisions, heavy-duty dual chain timing set,

Sorry Chris, but they were actually advertised as 285 The LT1's were NOT advertised as the same hp as the LS1's

Re: lg4

It is possible, especially for corvettes. Look at the GMHTP article where they compared the 98 WS6 vs 98 Corvette. The Corvette did 282 to the WS6's 293. IRS sucks.

I don't believe it. There is now way an LS1 Corvette is putting out a measly 282hp Early to mid 90's Vette's put out about 250'ish...

Read and weep. Post #18. Granted it was 98, but goes to show you the IRS can make the Corvettes dyno lower than they should. I'll bet with just a tune it would have been 290 vs 300.

Oh they don`t, I still have the dished pistons and I`ve spun her to 6800-7000RPM`s only once or twice if I`m trying for all the power I can get I shift at around 6000 rpm`s over around 6200 she starts to lose ALOT of power.

Oh and matt I forgot I also have the headmann headers and 2.5" y pipe (thats crushed ) to a horrible 2.5 inch thrust muffler out 2 1/4" tail pipes that have 3" boom tubes on them

I know the exhust is hurting the power BAD

But I beat on that poor LG4 so much I think i needs new rings so I`m upgrading to a 350 or 355

305 rwhp? Are YOU on crack? I will be VERY surprised if any LS1 puts out less than 320rwhp

Sorry pal, the lt1's SS and the Firehawk and the WS6 models all could come with 305 hp.

http://www.kron4.com/global/story.asp?s=2590551

So you think if someone thinks an auto ls1 puts out less then 305 rwhp they are on crack? and you are SUPRISED when they put out less then 320 rwhp stock? Why dont you go over to ls1 tech, and take a look at the average rwhp for ls1's. even m6's dont usually get 320 rwhp..usually ~305-310 rwhp.

Based on your matter of factly stated incorrect facts, i'd say you have a very large credibility issue. Shut your hole, and put up some *real* numbers.
