hey i have owned three third gen camaros and if i were you i would change the gears from a 3.23 to a 3.73 or a 4.10 gear depending on what trans you have but a good gear swap should shave about a half second from your quartermile time, Also no offense but the only one i had with a 305 tpi i really wasnt impressed with the power from the 305, compared to my 84Z with a built 327 it was like night and day.

Really?! You're built 327 was more powerful than your stock 305? No kidding?! Either way, the 305 wasn't designed as a performance combo, no one ever said it was. But you can squeek out a few horses from it.

The stealthram will fit under the stock hood. The l69 dual snorkel is the only real "cai" kind of thing. It's hard to get a carb/tbi aircleaner nothing buy cold air when it sits right on the top of the engine.

Programming is tedious. If you're interested just start reading the DIY Prom Board at thirdgen.org. There's no way you can learn it without reading and learning from someplace. There's a thread there that can get you started.

sigh.... its an auto im gonna do a tranny swwap if its not toooo dificult becuz i love stick, i learned to drive stick on my old 280zx turbo, very fast but so many electrical problems oof

 

3.42s are perfect for 305 TBIs. I went from the stock 2.73 gears to 3.42 gears, and it is definitely a noticeable difference in acceleration, and I lost an average of only 1 mpg (just depends on your driving style, can't gun it all the time ).

Just remember, you have to change the speedometer drive and driven gears in the transmission, so the speedo will read correctly.

 

Why would you change the gears and even more kill the already tragic top end power of the TBI? It has 170 HP and 250 ft-lb's of TORQUE! Thats plenty of tire smoking acceleration.The Top end needs work,I would not recommend changing the gears.....Not to mention it causes worse mileage and speedometer/odometer incorrections.Just do an Open Element and Headers/Catback..

 

tire smoking???? ur kidding right becuz this car wont spin tires from a dead stop if its dry concrete. how much would that kill my top speed? what gears would i run so that it would be close to top speed in the 1/4 since i dont plan on going fast on the street, and i dont plan on flooring it more than a quarter mile, also how do you do then thing with the speedeo so that it reads right once i change the gears?

ok, so after taking a real close look at the car, im a little disapointed, form the looks of it i think the front end has been replaced becuase it was wrecked or sumthing hopefully not, actually pretty damn sure, its a darker red than the rest of the car, paint on it much better condition but the front spoiler is ****ed up, the tach doesnt work right, its off by like 1500 rpm atleast, the speedo starts working after like 5 miles, the rear hatch locking system doesnt work right idont think becuase it takes slamming it several times to shut it, the steering feels so loose , gas pedal has to be pressed pretty hard to get it to move and then when it does it takes off , not trying to get a ticket, good news is rest of the paint looks fairly good , interior not too bad, i love the rims, engine seems to be running pretty strong, someone told me that the exhaust system wasnt stock and was custom made, neighbor that is mechanic looked at it and told that too me so im not really sure , will post pics soon as i find my dig camera, i need to replace the light bulbs in the center break light but it takes a hex screwdriver but my dad took all of our tools when he moved ahh, well i got lots of work to do on it but i dont mind, jsut hope it passes inspection so that i can go get a job and afford to fix it.

also when i was leaving while burning out still it just stayed in first until i let off, first time its done this and hasnt done since , anything to worry about, ps that was the only thing im gonna do with the car like that, im not gonna be posting any other burnouts or anything else because from here on out ima baby it (lol cant afford gas and tires)
