HEI help

I have a 86 Z28 with a 305 carburated.Does anyone know if I can disable the computer controled adv on the distributor and stick in a vacuum advance HEI distributor? NEED HELP PLEASE

You can, but I don't know how the computer will react if you leave it in the car. I just removed the computer completely, and I'm in the process of taking out all unessesary wiring.
