Fuel system problem
Fuel system problem
Just bought a 92 that was garaged w/full tank of fuel for 2 years. Changed filter but will only run if I spray fluid in the throttle body. No fuel at the intake line and suspect pump's dead. Can't find a dedicated fuse in the fuse block. Is there a fuse or relay I can check before I drop the tank?
Re: Fuel system problem
There's a "Red" fuel pump test wire, located either behind the altenator or near the battery, should be 12 gage heavy wire with a spayed connector going to nothing. Apply 12 volts, if it don't run(the pump) it's bad.
Re: Fuel system problem
90rocz has the most efficient method here....although I think the test connector wire is actually 14 gauge. Power it up, and if the pump still won't run you can go ahead and drop the tank.
If the pump runs and the car starts, there is the fuse in the holder behind the pass. side headlights and there's the relay which I believe is beside the brake booster. You could also have a bad ECM failing to turn the relay on, and there's always ICW (inter-connecting wiring.)
