Fuel Pump issues

I'm removing the in tank fuel pump in my '88 camaro. The car was once fuel injected but is now carbureted. Instead of replacing the in tank pump I want to install either a mechanical pump or an external electric pump made for a carbureted engine. Rather than just adding an external pump and hoping it will pull fuel through the old pump, i want to remove the in tank pump completely. My problem is the sending unit. I believe that once I remove the pump the sending unit will not reach to the bottom of the tank. Rather than modifying the original sending unit (might be tricky), is there a sending unit available for my application? Maybe from an originally carbureted camaro? Where can I find something like this? Thanks.

Is there a good place to buy a new sending unit?

Re: Fuel Pump issues

You can take your sending unit out.. Take your whole unit pump still attached, to a radiator shop. Have them measure how long the pump is in relation to the sending unit, have them weld in a raditor tube the exact same length and curve as the pump, Now you have a fuel pickuip, put a filter inline after the tank before the pump, I have seen alot of people put a pump where their stock fuel filter is.. This pump works good..
