Engine Swap

Hey I Was Thinking About Swapping The 305 Out Of My 83z' For A 350. But I Would Like To Use The Original Cfi, Is This Possible? What Kind Of Job Would It Be? Anything You Could Tell Me Would Be Great! Thanks!

I've heard of guys putting 350s and even 400s under CFI. Apparently the stock intake manifold is restrictive but basic porting work helps it out.

Otherwise, I'm not up enough on CFI to provide any more details.

Re: Engine Swap

Hi, i happen to own the same car as you, does yours have the fujtional hood scoops?

Anyways, alot of people will tell you not to waste your time messing around with your crossfire injection- what you are thinking about doing is definately possible, GM used the same tbi's and intake on both the 305's and 350's. however if you swap the intake over to a performance engine vs. a more stock one, you will have flow issues that can only be addressed by porting the intake and throttle bodies.

Here are a few cfi specific sites :

also, get in contact with mrr23.

good luck

Re: Engine Swap

Ya, Mine Has The Functional Hood Scoops Too. I Just Thought It Would Be Pretty Cool To Have A 350 In It But Still Look Stock. Does Anyone Make After Market Hi-performance Cfi Intakes?

Re: Engine Swap

Yes, there is an aftermarket intake for CFI www.x-ram.com

I did the same thing as you, and granted, as im sure many people will tell you on this board, i could have had a faster car for less, blah blah blah.........
But i had the satisfaction of making a car fast that no-one expected to be fast at all.

You will make much more power more easily and cheaply if you switch to a ddifferent intake, but if that isnt what you are after, then make the CFI fast.

check out some of those sites that i posted, they will be able to help you alot more without the bashing that you will get around here.
