Door Lock
Door Lock
Before y'all jump all over me. Please understand the deadness of the 2nd generation forum. I think my question applies here because it's hopefully the same part.
Well my brother informs me that while he was driving my 80z to work that the key lock "fell out" of the door. It worked fine to unlock the door in the morning, but while he was cruising it must have fallen out because when he got to work it was gone. I'm not sure what all fell out, but I'm guessing that there is just a hole in my door now. I am wondering if dealers still carry these parts, and if so I dont' even want to know how much they charge. Hopefully I can find a lock with a key at a local boneyard in the chicagoland area. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, kevin

I dont know the answer but if you cant find that from here you might want to try www.gmforums.com they have an fbody thats pretty active if nothing else. Just watch out for those post ****** of LIFBA.
The door locks in these cars are held in with a stupid little flat clip than can get old and rust in half or just work loose from vibration. Yours probably worked loose and the lock literally just fell out. If you can't find a pair at a junkyard you can get doorlocks from Autozone or whatever parts store, just take the one out of your other door and use it to match up the new ones. I also reccomend glueing the clips in place so they won't fall out again later.
