AC delete...

For those of you that have pulled out your AC I was wondering what you did about the motor / blades. I was finishing off my swap of the new air box and realized the old AC motor / blades was about 1/4 inch too long.

Is it as easy as getting non AC blades or do I need to grab a whole motor too?

Thanks, Ken

I made that mistake. I grabbed an A/C delte box at a junkyard and took out the stock motor thinking it would cost me more then without. Well it only cost me $5 but I had the same problem you did.
I took a 1" thick piece of MDF board and cut out a donut. Used that for a spacer along with foam weather stripping for a good seal.

Alright! So I went to the salvage yard this morning and this is what I found...

The blades are NOT interchangable. The motor shaft is shorter on the non AC motor, and the mounting depth of the non AC blades are lower. Yes it would bolt on but the length would still be about the same.

Thus, I had to buy the motor and blades. $20 CDN for a blower motor thats in mint shape, not bad!

(... I helped myself to a couple extra things I needed from the cars too... just to make the $20 worth while )

Thanks for the input guys!

I think that they somewhat expect that. What kind of stuff was it?
