Lots of Questions...
Lots of Questions...
Well hmm?
I need to get a set of 20 lug nuts for my firebird (locking/regular w/e) just the cheapest I can get really I'm missing 1-2 from every wheel just gonna get a whole matching set.. anyone know where I can get one??
I'm going to order a new valve cover breather (LT1) since mine doesnt evne have one should I get one with a vacuum line hole or not? all the ones listed on sites for LT1's dont have them but i know a line runs there
Rear Seat delete... whats the best place to get a coverup kit for this?? i found http://www.speedspecialty.com/store/...duct=rrseatcvr but iv never heard how good theres are and such
I wanted to divide up my new spark plugs im putting on so they will look better and wont get burned up (MSD wires).. I'v looked on thunderracing.com they got kits for the valve cover looms ($49) but i found one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true was wondering if anyones bought it before??

Re: Lots of Questions...
I got a new set of 4 locking lugnuts from my local Big O tires for $12. It was going to be $10 for just 1 locking lugnut (to match the one I lost).

I've got the ones on the top right and love them. Very easy to use and work well.

All you need is a plastic elbow that connects to the vent line from the throttle body, and plugs into the grommet in the valve cover.
Re: Lots of Questions...
Do you mean adding the Deutsch inline filter that replaces the plastic elbow? Using that and attaching the line from the throttle body keeps the system "closed". If you mean adding a "breather" filter, you will open up the system, and you will need to block off the connection on the TB that the hose used to connect to. Then you will have an "open" system.... technically a minor vacuum leak, but nothing the long term fuel corrections can't correct for.

one that goes in the hole on my valve cover on the passenger side when I look on my vacuum diagram above the raid it shows a tube going back there I assume it hooks into the filter or am I dead wrong?
Re: Lots of Questions...
You are dead wrong... you don't understand how the PCV system works.
Its a CLOSED system. And that's NOT a vacuum line that runs from the TB to the valve cover. The only outside air that gets into the PCV system enters through the main air filter, passes through the MAF sensor, goes through a hole in the throttle body in front of the blades, under the top cover and out the side of the TB, into the hose to the passenger side valve cover. The line from the TB is not a vacuum line, its an air supply line. That air gets pulled through the crankcase into the lifter valley, out the bottom of the intake manifold through a passage to the PCV valve, and through the PCV valve, pulled by vacuum from the intake manifold.
If you add the breather style filter you pictured, you don't need the line from the TB to the valve cover (or to the breather filter) because you've now created an OPEN system, and the air will be pulled in through the "breather". The only time anything will come out of the breather will be if you have excessive blowby on the rings and the PCV can't handle the volume, or your PCV valve is plugged up.
There is no practical reason to add the "breather" except for looks. The stock PCV system works well on a healthy engine. Mine works fine on an 800HP nitrous motor.

so I should just block this hole in the valve cover? because it is open as it stands now
Re: Lots of Questions...
No, you can't block the hole in the valve cover, because then there would be no fresh air to be pulled through the crankcase to remove the blowby gasses. Either leave the stock line in place and the plastic elbow in the hole, or put a breather in the hole and remove the line to the TB and put a vacuum cap on the connection at the TB.
