Block ID #'s on 305, where are they?
1) Sup yall, I'm going back in my motor to add some more horses but here's my problem. I need to find the block id numbers so I can order my new cam, rockers etc... Me and my mechanic fell out so I need to know where to locate the #'s. It's an earlier model 305 4 bolt main from a older camaro that was rebuilt from the block up. I really need help on this one.
my current set-up:
305 4 bolt main
Edelbrock perfomer intake
Edelbrock cam
Holley 600 4 barrel
B&M 350 turbo w/ heavy duty gears, stage 2 shift kit,
2:73 gears
Carter electric fuel pump
2 electric fans/ 1 clutch fan
straight pipe exhaust (no muffler)
new mods soon as I get block #'s:
lunati roller cam
roller rockers
forged pistons (yea, a 75 shot is coming)
accel cap w/ 8mm wires
MSD ignition
flowtech or hooker headers
2 1/2 inch pipes from headers to a 3 chamber flowmaster
2) Second, I need pics of any 3rd Gen Camaros' on 20 inch rims

There is no such thing as a 4-bolt main 305, someone added that. Unfortunately, they probaly weakend the block. 305 don't have a strong web area, like some 350 blocks.
Anyway, to your question. Look at the trans mounting flange area, on the driver's side of it there is a number (for example 3901010). That is the casting number of the block. Then go to mortec.com and look it up.

Thanks, I'll go grab my flashilght and get to it. I also heard the same thing about there being no such thing as a 305 4 bolt, from a good friend, but another friend of mine owned a 82 305 that he said was a 4 bolt. Anywayz I got very good low-end because of the trans (heart of the system) but winding out at around 110-120 mph so i know which direction I need to go. I dont want to go back to another 700-R4 because my B&M 350 is a powerful trans. and it cost me $1100 but I think its also the heart of my problem. Maybe some 3:73's will do it without taking my 1/4 mile speed away. BTW you have a serious car with a gang of mods. How do you like your Lunati parts? You see my set-up, so what would you recommend as far as power-adders. Take into account I'm keeping the 305, and want to push to the 300-340HP range without NOS.
