I must be lucky
As to you could not get an 87 Iroc with T-Tops and the
L98 is not correct.
I optioned and bought mine in Dec of 86 and took
delivery in 87. There are alot of them.
I must be lucky as my T-Tops don't leak but only have
32,800 on the car.
T-Tops with Sub Frame Connectors a very good idea even
if you don't have a big horse.

How about a high mileage car in the Mid-Atlantic? 22 years old, 200K miles, and 0 leaks. T-top seals were replaced with a GM kit back in 2001 due to a passenger tearing a seal.
Back to the OT - like stated before, the 92 L98 has lighter pistons, a better intake tract due to the deletion of the of MAF, and a much better dual converter exhaust with a larger intermediate pipe. Cam profile differences were minimal, as were any weight differences. The later speed density L98 have always proven to be quicker stock than the MAF cars, both in magazines AND in the real world. My old 91 Z28 with the L98 went 14.4 on the stock replacement Goodyears - car was untouched and I was a drag racing rookie.

The 1/4 mile and ET were from the track and the 0-60 was a police friend of mine with his radar gun and a stopwatch.

Just for clarification you mean t-tops were available right. 1988 is the first year of the serpentine belt right? I wish I had just one belt.

Belts
Yes, 88 was the first year with the single serpentine
belt, but very easy to convert over to.
Did mine as well as many others years ago. If I remember
alternator moves sides and you can get smog delete
bracket and belt that cleans it up even more.

Most of the t-top cars that leak are the owners fault due to not taking care of things. T-top seals dry rot over time. You need to keep them conditioned, especially if you drive with them out alot with the sun and wind beating on them. Also make sure you keep an eye on your door hinges. with a little TLC you can keep your t-top car nice and dry. And a T-top car is awsome cruising the beach at night with your lady by your side.
