a guy near me is selling a L98 5.7L motor out of a 1988 formula firebird.i'm most likely going to buy it. it is still in his car he is going to stop by tomorrow so i can check it out. his reason for sale is that he just got a 383 motor for it. car has 107k miles on it he is asking 600 bucks, what do you guys think. it is coming with the wireharness ecm and everything i need to make the swap from my carb'd lg4 to this

Iroc, that seems like a pretty decent price for EVERYTHING considering that its coming with the wiring harness and ECM.

Make sure the engine is in good shape though, burns little oil, doesn't burn coolant etc.

LT4 hotcam is too big for a factory L98 to handle. You're gonna have to do some work to the heads to get that cam to work. I.E. Massive porting and heftier springs.

Check out my mods. Its a decent combo for going mid to high 13's. It cost me $3000 but thats because of an accident that my car got in when it was parked. ( I had to pay for some of the new parts for the repair). Would have cost me less had it not been hit.

600 bucks is pretty good but it doesn't hurt to try and haggle them down a little. I'd buy it for 600. Make sure that there isn't any major problem like a rod knock or other major issues.

he's getting a killer deal. he is the second owner of the car. it was all original when he brought it to me. replaced all fluids and did a tune up. no leaks on this car. with the slp airbox and airfoil it went 14.52
