Great sounding is really different than having great inputs. GM makes a lot of money from XM putting it in their cars and having a mp3 player input makes the likelihood of paying for the XM service drastically go down. XM is great, but you are still at the mercy of the stations to what you listen to.

MT is saying the SS will be 3900. Does it really make a heck of a lot of difference, another 150 lb, when you have 420 HP on tap? Come on.
Thats still about 200-250 more than it should be but given todays standards it would be decent I guess. I was venting because of rumors floating about the 2011 Mustang. 400 hp and 3550? Who knows and things change.
I appreciate that you are being realistic. But let's wait and see, about the next Mustang, until its get real specs out and something in showrooms.
Gm is notorious for having great drive trains with crappy cars wrapped around them. I can say this from experience. Lets hope this time its different.
Your cynicism is not welcome here. I've had several V8 Firebirds and Camaros. None have disappointed me, in my overall ownership experience. My Fbodies have all had ergonomic, versatile interiors and great handling. So I wish people would let go of this myth instead of perpetuating it.

Looks like 270 to me. Incidentally, that's the torque peak on the DI 3.6 in the CTS.

Oh? And what do you expect the top speed of a 300hp car to be? A 275hp LT1 will do ~155...

I was under the impression that it was the integrated-fob ignition key. The fact that it was visible in those mule pictures doesn't really mean anything -- it was never commented on before. Pretty cool feature, IMO.

Are we really looking at a new generation Camaro where any motor you get is capable of pegging the speedo? hehehehe It's come a long way from those 3rd gen 4bangers.

I've seen 3.27 gears mentioned for the T6060 SS, but what gearing will the 6L80E version get? That transmission has a STEEP 4.02:1 first gear.
I was hoping for high 20's or even 20. The LS1 Camaro's were 19/29 M6 and 18/28 for the A4. The weight hasn't gone up by that much, if anything they should be better but at the least, equal.

I've just been assuming all along that this thing would have a AUX mp3 player/ipod jack (3.5mm headphone jack or whatever input). I'm going to be more than a little miffed if it doesn't have one in some attempt to force me to use XM (not happening, I do not want to listen to radio, and I sure as hell will not pay monthly to do so).

No, the vette only gets the LS3. The L99 has active fuel management which apparently only works with automatic cars.

I don't care whether it pegs the speedo -- even the V6 is going to be capable of some very respectable speeds.

The 4th Gen F-body EPA ratings were based on the old system. In the new system, a 2002 M6 LS1 F-body would be rated at 17/26. Source.

As for the "myth" concerning ergonomics and versatile interiors...that is purely personal preference (from either those that like them or those that don't). I don't think personal preference can be considered a "myth". Speaking from my experience....the LS1 seduced me, so I sold my 98 Cobra and bought a 99 T/A. Unfortunately, the rest of the car ended up disappointing me, thus I sold the T/A and bought a 99 Cobra. To each their own.

As for handling...my T/A handled well for what I wanted it for.

That said, and based on what we've seen and been told, I'm pretty sure the ergonomics on the 5th Gen would suit me fine. By like everything else (and like what has been preached here - pun intended - for so long by so many) that will have to wait till the car is available to drive.

When is the last time Chevy let the Mustang out perform a Camaro??? If you wanna drive a car designed for 16 year old girls over a few hundred pounds you go right ahead. Just make sure you pull over to let the big boys through
