The most I'll pay is MSRP, I'm hoping for supplier pricing though.

I wish GM would do something like what Nissan is doing with the GT-R...
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=124681
the automaker told Inside Line it has put a formal program in place to help prevent price gouging on the supercar, which starts at $69,850 for the base model.

If Scott says not to pay the dealer's markups then you better believe that I'm not going to. Why would I pay anything more???

Has he said that somewhere? While Chris and I are pretty emphatic about it, I didn't think Scott can say things like that due to his position within GM and the relationship it enforces. I speculate that he might think it often, though.

Why would I pay anything more???
You'd be surprised, many would which I why I created this poll.

Yeah Scott has mentioned it SOMEWHERE a time or two...

We will be preaching to the dealers WHY they shouldn't add the additional markup -- but (listen up!) WE CANNOT FORBID THEM TO DO SO.

And -- keep in mind that the same prediction was made with Mustang -- and yes, a few dealers tried this. -- but the majority did not -- and the Mustang has been successful by anyones' standards. Don't try to compare the SSR to the Mustang -- simply because the SSR was a limited production vehicle from the start......Mustang was not and Camaro will not.

Further - someone made the comparision to Mustang and Challenger - (people will get upset and buy a Mustang or Challenger) -- well, guess what? A high percentage of dealers who own Chrysler and Ford stores also own Chevrolet Stores (and Toyota and Honda as well) -- but- there are a substantially larger number of Chevrolet dealerships -- in the case of Chrysler and Toyota -- about three times as many! (so you have a larger choice of who to go to -- and you can ;just say no' to a lot of stores if you have to.)

Ladies and Gentlemen: You can be assured that Chevrolet and GM understand this issue - -you can be assured that the last thing we want is for you to pay over MSRP. We want you to be enthusiastic owners of our products. (there ARE limits.....)

We have people willing to get insider spy shots. Once this car is finalized and we know the specs, I'm sure the next big question is going to be what the dealers actually pay for these cars.

I've always heard it to be fair for a few hundred dollars over "invoice", where MSRP falls in the mix is where I'll have to wait and see.
But I think ?, usually, the MSRP takes into account a fair profit.
So, I'll say No, for now.

I knew I wasn't making that up! Jason, I guess what I was saying was basically that if GM says the Camaro's MSRP is going to be x....why would I pay .2x+x (not saying that dealer mark-up will be 2%, that's just for conversation's sake)?? I'm extremely excited for the Camaro to come out, but I will say that there is a price range that I can't afford to go above. I hope that the Camaro will be priced within my reach...and if what GM/Scott/??? has said about similarly equipped mustangs, etc. then I have nothing to worry about In fact, I feel very confident about the whole situation, which is why you don't see me complaining on this site. However...if dealers make the unfortunate decision to price gouge well above MSRP...I am afraid that I'll have to wait on my dreams of owning, not only a brand new car for the first time or a brand new Camaro, but the latest and greatest iteration of the Camaro breed. If a dealer begs...I'm not about to throw them a bone... So, let's hope that there are enough dealers out there that are willing to sell for MSRP!

Awesome, thanks for finding that one and clearing that up for me.

They will be out there, it is just a matter of not giving into the ones who tack on extra bucks hoping to reel in the "gotta have it right now" fool.

BTW, this poll is turning out very close to what I had anticipated. I just wanted to see if there are some out there who are simply willing to pay more because they just want the car bad enough.

GM needs to make the profits on the Camaro, not the shady dealers.

Plus an honest dealer sho will charge me MSRP on a high demand vehicle will have my trust.

This does not mean that buyers will not have to pay ADM to get the car. They just seem to be drawing the line at no more than 30% or so over MSRP. How many units for the USA???? Not enough to avoid price gouging for sure. Even if the buyers turn around and resell them. Its quite and automobile....and if I were not so adament about buying nothing but US products I would want one badly. But I'll stand on my self imposed policy of buying US cars only. I just hope the US manufacturers look at this car closely and provide the consumer with something comparable.

Not only will I NOT pay above MSRP, I won't pay MSRP. I usually pay dealer invoice when I buy a car, sometimes up to 3% over invoice, but no more. I can wait.

The thing is...I'm one of those people who want the car bad enough...the problem is, I'm not one of those people who have money at their disposal in order to pay over MSRP. One shouldn't have to take out massive loans or take out a second mortgage on their house in order to buy a Camaro. Camaro has always been THE poster child for amazing performance at afordable prices...with the exception of the 2002 Camaro ZL1...But I won't say anything more about the fact that the Camaro needs to be priced right...that's just preaching to the choir...

My point is...I want the Camaro badly...very badly, but I won't kill myself trying to pay for it.

My 4th Gen Convertible, I waited until I could find a dealer that would sell me a 6 speed Convertible at sticker, and then I signed. It took until the end of the year 1994. And then, only if I ordered my car, not one off the lot.

My company also gets the supplier discount, and something you guys need to remember is, the dealers are NOT REQUIRED to sell it to you at supplier pricing. It is their choice. Trust me, the Camaro will not be going for supplier pricing for a while. I had to pay sticker for my Solstice, as I could not find a dealer that would accept my Supplier Discount, and I spent close to 5 months calling every dealer one after the other listed on Pontiacs website. I know some guys were able to get it done because they were friends with the dealer owner, or whatever. Me, it will depend on how much I like the car, and what it is priced at. To me, it is about value in MY personal eyes.
